Fan would not turn when the refrigerator came on all the time. Would physically have to turn the fan blades.
Did not do the repair because the unit arrived damaged. The packaging was in good condition. The plastic around the plug in shattered, and some of the plastic was inside the motor. Very good, and fast on adjusting the order.
freezer too cold and refrigerator not cold enough because fan not working
Had to defrost a bit and then was able to remove rear freezer panel by simply removing the 2 screws holding it in place. Old motor easily removed from its mounting bracket. and replaced with the new. Had to use the two wires sent with the motor. I clipped off the male connectors and joined them with wire splicers to the black and red wires clipped from the old motor. Then reinstalled. The replacement motor works great. I was afraid the old fan blade might not fit but it slid on perfectly.
Original evaporator fan (31 years old) was making a lot of worn bearing noise
Empty freezer; Remove shelves and ice trays; Unscrew and remove the rear vertical panel; Unscrew and remove fan housing; Unscrew and remove fan from fan housing; Fan blade slides off the motor shaft without tools. Reverse order to reassemble with new fan motor.
I did have to use the wire extensions that were included as the replacement motor had the electric connections in a different location from the original motor.
I watched the video online, followed the instructions and within minutes had the part installed. The frig light was working once again! I will say the original switch was very snug and I had to do some very minor scraping of the plastic to get the new part to slide in.
Turned off the breaker to the fridge because I couldn't reach the power plug to unplug it . Use small flat head screwdriver to pop out the piece, disconnected the rubber prong connectors, inserted the new piece into the rubber prongs snapped it back into place. Flipped the breaker back on and prayed it worked. It did and I saved myself $120 service call.
0. As a safety precaution, unplug the range or hit the relevant fuse breaker before you start. You might also want to grab a flashlight. Definitely do not try to do this while the oven is hot. 1. Pinch the wire over the light bulb cap to remove it. This is inside the oven at the back. 2. Pop off the hemispherical glass cap. 3. Unscrew the old light bulb, and screw the new light bulb in its place. 4. Put the cap back. 5. Secure the cap by putting the wire back in its slots on the cap.
No tools needed, the cap is just held in place with pressure from the wire.
First of all, finding the part was very quick and easy, which really surprised me. The repair itself took only a few minutes. Just removed the two screws holding the broken end cap, and screwed the new one back in place.
the plastic part had broken and wouldn't support drawer
Replacing the new part wasn't hard, just very time consuming and frustrating. I had to remove two-thirds of the shelving of refrigerator as broken drawer slide was on the bottom and I had to have room to remove old and replace new. Of course, then I had to CLEAN all the drawers and shelving before replacing them and then, because they were fresh and clean, I had to remove the other third of shelving and wash and replace it. So, it was an hour-long or more time. I love your business, and had no idea I could get so many parts for old applicance and replace them myself, and I am a 70-year-old woman! This was the 2nd time to use your site and I will return to it again when needed. Thanks for prompt and reliable service and a site that makes it easy for a neophyte like me to find the broken part ! needed to replace the gasket because it had become brittle
My husband thought he would have to set aside time on the weekend to replace the gasket. It was delivered and I unpacked it put it on and that was that.
i pulled the old gasket off, and placed the new one in place, starting at the corners. then i lined up the insert in the gasket with the gap where it is to go and ran my fingers along the gasket, pressing in with my thumb.
I had to remove the glass shelve, the two drawers, and the middle rail. Once I did that, I slide the unit out together. I placed the unit on the floor and removed the one screw located on the far backside of the unit. I had to remove a slip cover (it had the kenmore logo and the writting on it) it was a snap on, so no problem. Glad it was not gluded on. After the old part was removed, I put the new part on. Put the two screws back on and snap the cover back on. Then I put the whole unit back in. This included the glassshelve and drawers. The process was pretty easy. Good luck with your change.
R/S rail was broken draw would not slide in correctly.
Took out both draws and glass shelf, removed the entire lower shelf housing. I snapped off the front rail aluminum face to expose the screw. Unscrewed both screws and removed the rail and then just reversed the procedure to put new rail on. It was the most cost effective way of doing it. All the pieces are there on the GE website as long as you know the model number. You will save a lot of money by doing it yourself.
