CTL1511GEW Magic Chef Refrigerator - Instructions

So easy to repair. Parts select offered the most likely solutions and repair parts to fix this problem. Ordered the ADB and replaced it in a matter of minutes. Saved myself at least 2-300 dollars by doing the repair myself. All seems fine. Its been almost a week now and the freezerad fridge are both working famously!

followed the video as instructed. Saved two repairman calls, one to find the problem, one to install. Net savings was about $130.00

1)pry out the old/defective light rocker switch with a screw driver (flat head) and pull out the cables 2)unplug two connectors at the end of light rocker switch 3) connect new light rocker into two connectors 4)push the wires inside and put back new light rocker switch

I did exactly as the video showed. I popped out the old switch, disconnected the two terminals, connected the new switch and put it back. The light now works! The refrigerator is over 25 years old and the switch works! What a great website this is. Couldn't of done the job without Partselect's help.

unplug power! Remove the screws from lower panel on back of refrigerator. Lift wire mount out of back panel. Capacitor is mounted directly to the relay and overload switch located on the left side of the compressor. Remove the spring clip holding the capacitor in place and pull the old capacitor out. Plug in new capacitor and replace spring clip. Use vacuum to remove dust from drip pan and wipe fan blades clean. Replace wire into slot on back panel and replace screws. Remove front coil cover below freezer door. vacuum dust off coils and replace cover. Plug refrigerator in and enjoy cold beverages. Relay and overload kit were not required for this repair.

Unplugged the unit. Removed items from the freezer. Remove 2 phillip head screws from the cover over the coils. Defrosted the unit with a blow dryer. Upon completion of defrosting, put everything back together. Removed items and top shelf in refrigerator to gain access to the controls. Removed a 1/4 inch nut head screw and loosened 2 each phillip head screws. Unplug the controls from unit and placed on kitchen counter. Removed 3 each phillip head screws holding the timer in place and unplugged the timer. Installed new timer, connected everything back together and placed everything back into the refrigerator. Plugged the unit back up and it is now cooling and defrosting properly. This whole process took approximately 45 minutes.

I followed the video instructions by the friendly repairman from PartsSelect.. I did it, but I needed just a bit more patience as he said, and I thus broke off one of the plastic tabs in the housing (I hate plastic fasteners!!!). But some redundancy was obviously built in, so it still was OK. This is day 37 since I repaired it, and the freezer has not iced up yet! And this is in 95 degree prolonged weather outside! You've helped to make our lives a lot easier! Thanks, you've earned my respect and my future repeat business.

Received the part two days after ordering. Instructions were included. Removed the console by removing one screw and pulling it toward me. Removed the knob from the temp control and disconnected the wires (3 slide terminals). Removed the old temp control and replaced it with the new one, connecting and routing the wires and sensor tubing so they wouldn't get pinched. Replaced the knob, console and the screw. Easy job. Tested with an infra-red thermometer and adjusted the knob accordingly 3 or 4 times to get ~ 10 degrees in the freezer and ~ 40 degrees in the lower cabinet.

unplug refrigerator, take backing off with nut driver. Pull old blade off and put new blade on. Put backing back on and plug in.

Followed the video for the most part. Had to partially remove one of the "studs" in the ceiling of the 'fridge to do the "slide to the right" step...I think the screw/stud was put in off-position slightly, so the part holding the defrost controller wouldn't release. Otherwise, went like in the video, and the problem appears to be resolved.

Removed the freezer door and replaced with the new hinge.

I purchased and reaplced adaptive defrost board following the direction in the youtube. It was easy and quick.

First I did the thermostat and then I did the temperature control valve and I think that did it I should of done the control knob first because the fan in the freezer would run continually and wouldn't even shut off manually with the switch but now it turns off so I happen its fixed

I confirmed the problem was in fact the relay/capacitor by the burned smell and discoloring of the part. Other than a wire splice, it was simply swap part for part. The run cap was even easier as well as the defroster to change. The defrost t-stat took longer only because I needed to clean out the freezer in order to gain access. After that it is just plug-in and snap on. I plugged the fridge back in and checked it periodically for temp change.....bingo! Oh, this is a good time to clean your unit out as well!
