2 of 4 burners wouldn't light
Unplugged the stove, removed all 4 burner discs from the stove top (2 screws each) and disconnecting electrode wires as I pulled them out, removed the stove top, unscrewed the old module, removed the 6 wires, connected wires to the new module, screwed it into place, reinstalled the top while poking the electrode wires through the top one by one, put the stove top in place, connected the wires to the burner discs. Done, and it works! It took longer to find and order the part than it did to change it out.
The trick with any appliance is to remove all the extras, before you get to the problem.Considering that it has electricity, the first step was to turn it off. After that it was a matter of removing the top burners, range knobs and locate the panel screws that secure it to the stove.Locate the part, remember the colors of where the wires go,remove, replace wires, replace new part with wires, slide into place, and reassemble. Turn on electriciy and Tada. Success.
I could not figure out how to get to the igniter until I went to the "Part Select" web site and found a post that was exactly like the problem that I had. IE: Remove two screws holding each burner, Lift off top, remove old igniter being "Carefull" not to mix up the wires when putting them on the new one, installed new igniter in bracket and mounted in position, Reinstalled top and PRESTO - it worked. First post was VERY HELPFUL. Thank you
The front burners on my Amana stove never sparked reliably and finally stopped working altogether.
I read on this site about someone who had my same problem. He ordered and installed a new spark ignition module and after installation the stove worked fine. So I ordered a part # PS2034431 Spark Ignition Module for my Amana stove. I installed it, and it worked just fine, really for the first time since I bought the stove new. Oh well... Taking the stove apart took a bit of study to find how to get it right, and the clothes pins were to keep the wires from slipping back through the stove top as I was putting it back on before actually hooking up the piezo units. The instructions that came with the spark igniter were pretty useless (not wrong, just useless), but carefull notes while taking the bad unit out and where each wire went made the replacement rather easy. The really tough part was removal of the burners - the small screws had deteriorated over the last 7 years, so I had to drill two of them out. I replaced all of them with stainless steel screws. This cost an hour of my time plus a trip to the hardware store. But as I said... the stove now works fine really for the first time. Way to go, Amana! I trust this igniter will last a lifetime. And certainly, reading about the same problem I had and easily finding the part was a welcome treat on this site.
No sparking from 2 of 4 burners... Wouldn't light.
First, I unplugged power to the stove. Next, I removed the grills, ceramic burner discs, gas knobs, and glass plate (under the knobs). Next, I removed the 2 screws exposed by the control knobs. Next, I removed the 2 screws holding each burner assembly to the cook top. I then unplugged the wires attached to each burner assembly and set the assemblies aside. Now I was able to remove the top. Once removed, it was very easy to locate and remove the bracket holding the old sparking module. Then it was just a matter of removing the wires from the old module and attaching them to the new module... attaching the new bracket to the stove and then re-assemble the cook top. Honestly, this was a very simple repair... and probably took me longer to describe the steps than actually execute.
I first thought the burner was bad but after some testing realized that the Spark Ignition Module was faulty. You have to remove the screws from the four burners to remove them and the stove top. Then it is a fairly easy job to replace the module. Just be careful to reconnect the wires in the correct places that you removed them from the old module.
Philips is all that's needed. Remove the burners (2 screws each) lift off top of stove, replace the ignition module. put all back together and your done. Local parts store wanted $80+ for the module. PartSelect only $50 total cost and it hit my mailbox in TWO days! Thank you PartSelect.
Removed two screws per burner. Unhook wires. Putting back broke slide on connector and had to replace. That took longer than the whole job. I ordered the part before 3:00 pm and it was at my house tjhe next morning which was hard to believe. The instructions that come with part made no sense what so ever. Thanks for the quick service and I will be back. Dave
First I removed the knobs on the range, then the front cover and then removed the two screws that hold each burner in place. I removed the top and removed the Module and started replacing the burners and front ocver and knobs. The Module worked GREAT. Thanks for your fast service in getting me the parts.
Removed the top, 4 screws and pulled the contact wires off. Replaced the module and connected the contacts. Put back the screws and the top. When the stove was new it did not operate properly and we had a technician out, but naturally it worked for him. For the past 14 years intermittent operation has been agravating me. With the new module the burners have never worked so well.
Unscrewed the burners, lifted the top up,unplugged the burners.Took out the bad module, making sure of where the wires went and put them in the same spots on the new module, reconnected the burners lowered the top screwed the burners back in and the burners lit.
ignintion spark was very weak, burners would not light
removed two screws from each burner, removed ignitor wires from burners, pulled range top removed old module and inserted new reattaching wires for four burners, switch and power to new module. reset top, attached wires to burners and reinserted screws
We lived with the problem by using a long-reach butane torch lighter for three years after an appliance repairman told us the problem would be very costly to repair. Finally, we found the likely suspect when we happened onto PartSelect's website- the spark ignition module. The cost was just over $81 plus shipping. We ordered on Wednesday, it arrived on Friday by FedEx, and I installed it on Saturday morning. All the parts were included, the instructions were clear and complete, and, best of all, our range now works as it should. We couldn't be happier. Thanks, PartSelect.
All four Spark did not ignite or only once and a while
Unplugged the stove, removed all 4 burner discs from the stove top (2 screws each- WATCH YOU DONT STRIP HEADS) and disconnecting electrode wires ( DONT HAVE TO- IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO SIDE TOP UNIT OVER), unscrewed the old module, removed each of the 6 wires, one at a time and connected wires to the new module. Plug in stove to test before you screwed it into place, reinstalled the top unit , put the stove top in place,. Done!
