post that holds the door broke
had to remove all drawers, once removed used nut driver to remove three screws. then removed the rail that holds the drawer. used nut driver again to remove rail from the original to mount the rail to the new bracket. Slide in holding brackets in front and back had to be removed, Then we had to do some wiping down and cleaning from spills that we had not seen. Installed the re-assembled bracket. installed the braces in front and back, installed the glass plate then re-installed the drawers. - took longer than I expected but worked fine.- weak point on the bracket is the pin that allows the door to pivot up/down.

Broke Glass - Rmoved Glass To Clean - Very Fragile
Very easy to replace; no tools needed. Be aware, while waiting for replacement, the refrigerator would not control temperature. Foods in the vegtable bins began freezing nalong with items on the doors (milk, etc. ) Even turning the temp setting to 46 degrees (maximum allowed through the keypad) the food kept freezing. Once the glass was replaced, everything went back to normal.

Broken Drawer Cover Hinge Peg
Best advice I got...Remove all the drawers first, it gives plenty of working room!! Remove end cap carefully, as there are unseen pieces helping hold this part in place. Then remove various small parts from EC, again carefully, they do seem a little bit fragile. Remove drawer track last.
Put track on new end cap first, then replace small parts, just screw back in place...done!!!
Common sense and patience will go a long way, it is actually quite easy to do.

Endcap snapped
Removed food from bottom of cabinet; dismantled drawer/pantry section, after removing drawers. Easy matter of removing 3 screws and installing new endcap by inserting 3 screws; re-assembled. Honestly, the toughest part of the job was washing the components before re-assembly. The easiest part, by far, was the ease of obtaining the needed parts - thank you! Great service!

the meat/cheese drawer lid was caught and the tab busted off on the right side of the drawer
SUPER SUPER EASY!!! I ordered the part and it was delivered in less than 4 days ... however, the part sat in our laundry room for over a month + days. I think my husband was not certain how easy it would be to install ... he has little patience for this stuff. .. and we usually end up in a heated discussion on how to get these things completed. This time, I sat in the recliner and read the Sunday paper and stayed out of it. Less than 15 minutes and it was done!!! He even went further and cleaned the whole inside of the fridge and it looks like new again. You, too, can do this repair yourself and save the cost of a repairman.

Deli Drawer plastic tab broke
The repair was really easy. I popped out the deli drawer removed a couple of screws, removed the drawer runner, popped on the new part, tightened the screws and returned the deli drawer. In less than a half hour the task was complete, the wife was happy, and the deli window/lid works like new.

I was originally shipped the wrong part (right side instead of left). Customer service was more than helpful and the correct part was received within days at no cost to me.

Broken endcap
First I removed the deli door and drawer. I then removed the crisper bins and the glass from the top of the deli drawer.

Next I unscrewed the sliding track (2 screws), then removed the end cap. There is a temperature control arm that is also attached to the endcap and back of the fridge, which I had to remove from the endcap.
I clipped the temperature control arm in place on the new endcap, screwed the endcap back in and replaced the sliding track.

In goes the deli drawer, door, glass, criper drawers and Voila! Done.

Very easy and took me about 10 min max. My husband is still surprised I'm so handy :)

The poorly designed plastic pin on the endcap broke
I took the three screws out on the side panel after removing the drawers. The end cap pulls to the side and forward. I swaped the lever from the old cap to the new and re-installed the piece. It couldn't be easier. 5 min.

Replace Encap To Operate Self Oening Lid
The unit is 14 months old. Our last unit was 10 years old and what a difference in quality (thickness of plastic parts) with the new unit. This part should not have broke with respect to age and two older (50-55 year old) users. This site was great, withour it I would not have attempted the repair. To see illustrations to help with each step save me I would bet at least a hundred dollars if not more. Simple tool and this site made this a very easy repair. I listed 30-60 minutes, that time also included removing each piece and cleaning before reinstalling. Everything seems to be made so flimsy (sp) this is maytag's ice2o. We paid over $2300. 00 For the unit. Iy works great and keeps food so much better than our previous ge profile fridge. But the ge was built so much more heavy duty than this ice2o. Really sad that it had to be repaired so early in it's life. The ge was repaired the first time after ten years of use, and only a door part, a cam that helps to close it with just a touch. Thanks to everyone who supports and adds to this site, it gave me just enough of an edge (the economy also helped!!!!) to get me to not only try it but also do it! Again many thanks and to everyone who wants or needs to do it yourself. Just do it!
