Broken Left Side Door Spring
If I can do this you can too. I followed the instructions on this site but the only thing missing was how to pull out a dishwasher from the counter. The dishwasher is held by either two screws at the top that are into your counter but if you have granite they may be held in by two caps on the front side of the dishwasher that you just pop off and remove. Make sure you definately lowere the front of the washer by using a wrench and spinning down the height adjusters on the front of the frame. The next thing is a biggie, find the water supply and if you have a length of flexible hose great, just gently slide it out to reveal spring/pulley assemblies. I had a brass fitting that had to be loosened and pulled back to allow the washer to be pulled out. It was a compression fitting that was easy with a 5/8 wrench. Only slide it out enough to reveal the spring and pulley. Follow the replacement instructions then put it back the same way. Don't spin the height adjusters back up too far or ou will get steam condensation buildup. I did that. I figured I saved at least $200 by doing this very simple repair.

Broken string on door balance link
This is the third one that I have fixed in 2 months. This is a very poor design for such high quality, but expensive dishwasher. While installing the new balance link on the third one, I noticed that the design was flawd, so instead of putting more tension on the string than needed, I only looped the string around the bottom roller, instead of looping it in the "s" configuration as shown in most instructions. The door balance kit works perfectly fine this way with less tension. I could be wrong on this, but less tension on this string may help it last longer. These doors are heavy, and there isn't a real big difference from the "s" loop as recommended and the "L" loop as I did. Still works fine.

One of the strings wore over time causing a lack of tension when opening the door.
Other than having to disconnect the water line from the supply (because it did not have sufficient length to fully pull the dishwasher from uner the counter), this job was quite simple. The originals parts were easy to disconnect and simply replaced with the new parts. What was most impressive was that I ordered the parts online on a Sunday evening and the parts were delivered to my door by noon on Tuesday.

Pulley bracket on left side broke after someone bumped into the open door.
There is a video associated with this part provided by partselect.com and I followed it exactly. It is very easy to follow but I should say this is the third time I have had to repair this part. It is plastic and breaks easily.

Door Balance broke and would drop w/o tension
I followed the video instructions, turned off power, disconnected the water and disposal connections, disconnected the under-counter and kickplate mounts and pulled out the dishwasher. I used towels to catch any excess water from the disconnected water lines, and removed the broken door balance. The "cable" broke and technically could have just replaced the sing part, but decided to replace the entire mechanism. Since I did not pull the dishwasher out the whole way, having a flashlight was helpful to look at the spring and make sure it was properly attached to the frame as I connected the cable to it. I slid the unit back in, reconnected the water/disposal lines, kickplate and counter mounts, and turned on the power. Worked perfect.

replaced the balance link which was clearly explained in the video on the web site. The video was extremely helpful. Also, received the part in a matter of a day or two...much earlier than expected. I give Part Select A+

Broken door balance link
The repair of the link itself would have been just as easy as shown in the video--but 1. It was not clear what hole to put the screw in; 2. it was not easy to pull the spring close enough to make the link with the cable. Pretty strong spring. Aside from that, the business of getting the dishwasher out of the cabinet and then back in again--properly aligned, was time consuming. PROBLEM: now the door tips to the right, brushing the edge of the body, and has to be pulled leftward to correct it. Is this a matter of which hole I've used to put the screw in when I replaced the mechanism?

Door balance link broke on one side.
Pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter, replaced both sides of the door balance with the new kit and pushed the dishwasher back into place. The most time was taken getting the dishwasher out.

One cable of door balance link snapped; I replaced both sides
I followed the very clear instructions from your video. Excellent.BUT --there were associated problems along the way--removing the front plate and finding two there; leveling the washer evenly while lying on the floor. The spring was tightly sprung and not so easy to hook up for one old guy alone. Little things like that. In short, the video was excellent but for an amateur pulling out a dishwasher for the first time it was more time-consuming and trickier than I'd hoped. But I wasn't really surprised. The point is: it works now! Thanks

door balance link was broken
Pulled out the dishwasher - the most difficult part because the cabinets were build very tight around it. Assembly of spring and link is pretty self evident. However, the original part is slightly different in that it only requires one screw. Also, the rope link in the original is a little longer than the replacement part, so the new link setup stretches the spring more. This could lead it to break sooner. Overall, replacing the door balance was about as easy as replacing a toilet flapper. My wife was very happy with the result.

door balance kit broken
I was standing in the kitchen and heard a pop. Unsure what it was, I found an online video explaining that either the spring or the door balance mechanism was the issue. The video explained how to repair the door balance mechnanism so I removed the cover at the bottom of the dishwasher and found the rope for the door balance had broken. I then knew exactly what part to order. I ordered the balance kit from PartSelect and it was delivered two days later. I began the install and found that I could not pull the dishwasher out far enough to reattach the spring that came loose when the rope broke. I could tell something was holding it, but not sure what. Figuring this out probably took the most time. I thought it was stuck against the counter top so I turned the legs down and still couldn't get it out. I then looked at the plumbing and wiring next, but couldn't tell where the wiring entered the machine since it came from the back and you have about 4" of space to look through while laying on your back on the floor. I finally found the electrical box, took off the cover and could see the wires weren't long enough. I had to shut the circuit breaker off, disconnct the wires and pull them out of the box so I could get access to the sides of the dishwasher. Once that was done the parts fit perfectly and I finished up by reinstalling the wiring, sliding it back to its original position so the counter top screws would line up and readjusting the legs so it was at the right height and balanced side to side. The whole job took about an hour and half. If I had to do it again, I would say 30 minutes at the most. Very easy.
