The rubber of the coupling had deteriored and started crumbling until it no longer blended.
My husband lifted off the old piece with some difficulty and then just screwed it back on. We were really glad to have our blended back as good as new for under 20$!
The drive coupling (what turns the blender) lost all teeths
Watched the video on the site on how to remove the old one and install the new one and it took me all of 5 minutes, at most. I almost threw it away. Super cheap repair. The product arrived in 2 days too. I am saving the site. They are great.
Hardest part was taking off the old coupling. I locked the drive with a thin wrench and pryed the coupling off. Took about ten minutes to get off and two minutes to put the new gear on. Remember the thread is counter clockwise. PartSelect was great the part arrived in two days.
using the screw driver I pryed up on the old coupling as out line in the instructions that came with the part. The old part cam off easily and the new one just screwed on. The replacement took only a few minutes.
I first tried to do the repair just like the directions ,trying to force off the wheel. Then I tried doing it the way the readers here did with a tthin pliers and was not sucessfull. I then took it to a hardware store and ask about a certain pliers, they did not have it. The older man at the register took two screwdrivers from the jar next to him took my blender and pried on either side and popped off the wheel just like the original directions said. It was then easy to put the new one on.
I unscrewed the old coupling and screwed on the new coupling from Partselect. This was a personal repair job. However, I am a local Handyman in Northern NJ that does a ton of minor repairs. For all of my appliance part needs I will buy from Partselect.com. They under promised and over delivered! Just incase you dont know what I mean by that statement,,, I ordered the blender part, they told me I would have it in 6-10 days (which was acceptable to me) and I had it in two days... AWESOME job FOLKS!!!!!!!
The coupling teeth on the blender broke off when it wasn't seated properly
After reading repair stories on this site, I used wire splicers that just fit between the coupling and housing to hold the shaft while I used pliers to remove the broken coupling. I then hand tightened the new one . It works fine now.
Thanks to everyone before me and their stories! I felt confident enough to try repairing my blender myself ! ! ! I just placed a flat head screw driver under the coupler and pushed up on the screw driver, 3 or 4 more times around the coupler. It broke away and a metal disc was left, which I unscrewed and I just screwed the new coupler on. Thanks Again!
coupling on blender base had chipped and needed replacing
I inserted a metal rod in the bottom of the base while I held it sideways to keep the motor from turning and I used pliers to twist the coupling off counterclockwise. I thought at first I was doing it wrong because it wouldn't nudge so I left it alone. I then read the repair stories again and went back to it and it right came off. I guess there was a lot of gunk holding it tight. Of course when the new one came days later it was easy to twist it on. Thank you for all of your stories. They were very informative and encouraging. Without them I'm not sure if I would have attempted it myself.
i used the screwdriver method prying up on side to side old one comes off new one goes on pretty cool also it was a nice long flat head with pretty big head
