First I popped open the top of the dryer so I could see the part. I removed two screws from inside the door that hold the spring lever and switch together. I removed the spring lever which is also like a bracket that holds the switch in place. Put the spring lever back in place over the switch and reinserted the two screws. Done in about 10 minutes.

The dryer door has a switch hidden inside the machine housing. The switch has a lever that protrudes and when the door it closed it hits this lever allowing the dryer to activate.

To replace: pulled out the lint trap, remove 2 screws under the lint trap. Pry the top open at the front (it's press fit in place and will pry open with a flat screwdriver).

Lift lid up and prop open (like the hood of a car). Find the switch at the front of the machine just above the drum. Remove 2 screws holding the switch in place (from just inside the drum area). Pull off the broken clip bracket, replace with new one and screw it back into place. Be careful not to drop the screws or bracket or they will fall into the bottom and you may never see them again. I can't stress this enough!!

Let the lid down and give it a good rap on the front to seat it back into place, replace the 2 screws under the lint trap. Replace the lint trap. And your done.

Loosened two screws in back top of drier and pulled forward and up to hinge top of drier and allow access to door switch.Took out broken actuator spring and replaced with new one,snapped lid back in place and put screws back in hinges and job was done.

Very easy to repair remove top of dryer and took out to screws and put switch back in place replaced screws and put top back on. Easy!!

same as I described above. However i was amazed when the part showed up the very next day...I was expecting maybe 3 or so days later. I wiil absolutely use PartSelect in the future.

Googled dryer won't start! From information on the Parts Select website, I determined it was possibly the dryer door switch. Checked the dryer to confirm status of door switch and found it broken! Ordered part and received it within 2 days (actually ordered on a Sunday and it shipped on Monday with receipt on Wednesday. Unpluged the dryer. Used information from Parts select website to remove two screws from vent filter, used screwdriver to pop the top of dryer at each front corner, removed two long screws from the old switch and replaced the broken actuator on the switch with the new actuator received from Parts Select. Note: It was easier to remove old switch with the wires removed from terminals (just pull off), replacing the wires after securing the switch and actuator back in place. Piece of cake, wife happy, received her king of the roost reward :>)) This is also a good time to clean the lint filter area and the hoses to prevent one of those 16,000 annual dryer fires!!!

Replaced the cap over the door switch so when the door closed the switch was engaged

The dryer just stopped after a new load of clothes was put in. It appeared to be a power problem as there were not warnings, it just stopped. After checking the power, I suspected it was an electrical interlock problem. After nosing around, I traced the power to the dryer door interlock. Sure enough the switch was fine, but the mechanical lever was worn away. After Googling around for a replacement I found PartSelect.Com. Found the part, ordered it, and I am back in business. My wife is not happy though, as she wanted a new dryer:)

I first noticed that the tab of the door switch snapped off so the safety on/off switch did not work when the door was closed. I temporarily taped the switch closed so I could use the dryer. I found the model number from the unit and easily found the schematic and part description from the website. I placed the order and had the part in a few days. Problem solved. Thank you

Took top of d then dryer loose then replaced switch actuator put dryer top back in place. Not that hard.

I thought it might be a damaged switch but when I removed it I noticed a metal clip that was attached to it was broken. The pin on the door pushes against this clip when the door is closed which in turn opens the circuit on the switch. I looked up the model on this website and viewed the parts diagram. There I saw the part I needed and it was listed below along with the cost. Couldn't of been easier. Thanks!

I noticed that the dryer door switch actuator spring/lever was broken on the door. I researched how to get the top of the dryer cover off, and I took apart the mechanism. I called a local repair shop and they wanted me to buy the whole unit instead of just the switch lever. So I did some research to find the part on the web, and I came across your site. It was very easy to navigate, and I fould the part easily. I saved about 66% by just ordering the lever and not the whole unit. I would without hesitation, buy parts from your website again. 1) Using a Phillips head screwdriver, the two screws retaining the hinge pin to the lid were removed. 2) Remove hinge pin and tilt lid slightly to gain access to bushing hole. 3)Install new bushing in hole. 4)Reposition lid. Insert hinge pin through lid and into bushing. 5)Reinstall hinge pin retaining screws and tighten.

I am one Happy Gal.....Looked to fix,thought about just buying a new dryer..In the end talked to the local repair guy...said I could do it myself. (why pay him)..I live in small town.Ordered your part,watched the video and did it...Saved myself over $500, plus the $125 for delivery.for that new dryer..(Small town in the forest!)Very easy to install....Hope to use this dryer for many months perhaps years..It is 30 years old! I just remove two screws slip the old off and slip the new one on replace the two screws back put top of dry back in place replace two screws from dry lint trap
