Product Description

PC BOARD Specifications

Control boards, also known as display boards or user interface boards, are used within electronics such as appliances to control and manage most, if not all the processes within the appliance. This control board is designed for use within various models of window unit air conditioners to display the temperature of the air that the appliance is emitting and is sold as an individual part. This control board measures approximately 7.3-inches long and features a 24-pin connector to attach within the appliance. If your air conditioner has certain error codes, does not turn on or off, or if you simply notice unusual behavior, the control board may be the reason behind it. You can test your control board for continuity with a multimeter or check for any signs of burns to see if it has shorted and is not delivering power properly. The control board is normally secured within the user interface/display panel on the front of the air conditioner and will likely only require a screwdriver or wrench to access. To replace an air conditioner control board, ensure its power is disconnected and use your user manual to locate it, before you disassemble any necessary portions of the appliance. Take pictures of any wiring harnesses for future reference, and replacing the old control board is as simple as disconnecting it and installing the new one.

A/C blows cold for 10 seconds then heating element comes on and blows hot
I bought both PC BOARDS and the 3 thermostats even tho I read that cleaning the thermostats will sometimes work. Installed thermostats but still blew hot. Installed push button control module because wife said the buttons don't always work, still blows hot.
Slide out A/C from frame about 8 inches, remove 4 screws that hold top cover. All the wires and thermostat connectors must be removed to get main control module out. I took lots of pictures and made my own wiring diagram with notes. The wire connectors look like regular push type, but they do have a release tab that can be pushed with needle nose plyers. Remove screws holding module, and do everything in reverse. Yes, the A/C works properly now. I spent an extra $110 for the thermostats and push button control, but am very happy it works and didn't have to buy a new A/C.

Air conditioner compressor does not shut off when fan for cooling does.
For model number FFRH1822R20

Hi Jerry, Thank you for your question. If your air conditioner will not shut off and keeps blowing cold air, it may be due to an issue with the control board, also known as the PCB assembly. A sensor monitors the air temperature in the room and signals the control board to turn on the compressor and begin cooling. The board relays may be faulty if the compressor keeps running well after the ideal temperature has been reached. The board processor circuitry may also be the source of the issue. Some air conditioner units have a separate relay board, in which case you can use a multi-meter to test each relay output for continuity and determine if one is at fault. You air conditioner may not shut off or stop blowing air because of an issue with the temperature control, also known as a thermostat. For rotary dial thermostats, there will be a set of internal electrical contracts which power the compressor circuit, to signal it to blow cold air. This set-up utilizes a sensor bulb, located near the evaporator coils, to monitor room air temperature. If the temperature control contacts become stuck in the closed position, the compressor will keep running after the ideal temperature has been reached, and keeps blowing cold air. Check the sensor bulb to make sure it is properly attached to the coils before replacing the temperature control. If your window air conditioner will not shut off, it may be due to a problem with the thermistor or temperature sensor. The thermistor is located near the evaporator and monitors the air temperature in the room. It signals the control board to turn the compressor on or off as required. The temperature sensor or thermistor may not be working if the air conditioner is not shutting off, because it isn’t getting the message that ideal temperature has been reached. To test the sensor, check your manual to find the exact specifications for the thermistor and measure with a multi-meter. Check the other components such as the control board for any visual signs of a loose connection. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

When unit is turned on a/c mode and turned off it doesn’t turn off but when in the heat mode fan turns off but sounds like compressor keeps running. Unit will not turn off unless power supply is unplugged.

Hi Steve, thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that you could check for that issue. You should take a look at your thermistor, sensor, and your fan switch as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Compressor does not shut off unless you hit the reset button. I have already purchased and installed the front control panel from your company and installed but the issue remains. On this unit is the a relay somewhere that is stuck closed allowing the compressor to continuously run?
For model number ffrh1822r2

Hello Spencer, thank you for contacting us. Please make sure that the condenser coils are clean. We would recommend checking the ambient temperature sensor, part number PS3655657, and the evaporator thermistor, part number PS2359468. You can test these parts for continuity via a multimeter. Also, inspect the compressor capacitor, part number PS11700318. If this does not help, the problem is related to the electronic control board, part number PS9864896. We look forward to hearing from you if you need assistance with placing an order through our 7-days-a-week customer service. We hope this helps!

Problem began with neither heat nor fan not shutting, including by touch pad or remote, when set temperature was reached in heat/auto mode. Had to be unplugged. Used reset function for a few temp fixes. That no longer works and now brings brief display of 8.8 on control panel when power's restored. Fan comes on but no heat. Panel 100% unresponsive to touch or remote changes. Any help appreciated.

Hello JDB, thank you for contacting us. The most probable cause of the issue is a faulty PCB, part number PS9864875. It processes the temperature and fan settings you choose. If this does not help, we would recommend checking the control board, part number PS9864896. It manages the operations of the room air conditioner like temperature and fan speed. Customer service is always available to help you place an order if you are having trouble doing so. Good luck with your repair.

On the heat setting the heat will cycle on and off, but the fan will not turn off even if power is turned off. Unplugging the unit will turn the fan off, but it comes right back on when plugged in. Heat seems to be working fine otherwise.

Monica, thank you for your question. There are three different sensors in the model. PS3655657, PS2359468, PS2582334. They are all connected to the PC board. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, we have a link you to view. We look forward to hearing from you.

My unit won’t turn off even when I turn it off. Still makes a loud buzzing sound like the motor is still working. How can I tell which part is the culprit?
For model number FFRH0822R12
PartSelect logo
Hello Mark, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the condenser coils. If the coils are dirty, clean them. If this did not fix the issue, the Thermistor provides voltage to the fan motor and compressor. If the Thermistor has shorted out, it might send continuous voltage to the compressor and cause the compressor to run all the time. We hope this helps!

Hello Stephen, thank you for reaching out. We would recommend cleaning the air filter and checking the unit again. If the issue remains, then you may need to replace the PC Board, part number PS11723597, to resolve the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
