Closer Plate Specifications
This is the door closer plate or closure cam for your refrigerator. If your refrigerator door is hard to open or close, does not seal well, or there is a popping sound when opening the door, you will need to replace the door closer plate. You can find the closer plate at the bottom of the door, and you will need to remove the door to replace it. With the door off, simply unscrew the retaining screw for the old closer plate, remove the plate itself and then re-tighten the retaining screw. Re-install the door and your repair is complete.

Hi John,
Thank you for your inquiry. The closer plate would be the lower door closing cam. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The refrigerator side (right side) door opens and closes well, but door opens beyond 90 degrees and doesn't stop. Would open to 180 degrees if it wasn't stopped by a wall. Will the closer plate fix this problem?
For model number PHSC39EGSS0

Hello Randy, thank you for your question. If the door is swinging open too far the door stop Part #: PS817822 should be replaced. I hope this helps.

Door was making a popping sound when opened and closed
Unscrewd the top hinge cove and removed two bolts from the hinge, lifted door off of the bottom hinge and laid the whole door on the floor using a beach towel to protect it from scratches. Unbolted the bottom hinge plate, replaced it with the new one. Then pulled out the old hinge bearing and replaced with a new one. Installed the door back on the bottom hinge while the magnet on the door strip held it place and rebolted the the upper hinge and reinstalled the hinge cover. All done in less than 10 minutes. No more popping sounds when I open and close the door!

the door would not close on it's own
The parts came within 2 days. The delivery was great. I took the food off the door, then removed the top hinge. Lifted door off bottom hinge and laid the door on a blanket on the floor. I then had access to the closing mechanism top and bottom that is just two plastic cams that lift the door as it opens. The weight of the door then is used on the cams to help close the door with the appliance level. It was very simple and assembly was just reverse order.

The door had a loud popping noise everytime you opened it.
The biggest part of the repair was getting everything out of the shelves in the door. I had to remove one phillips head screw from the plastic hinge cover on the top of the appliance. As per the owners manual I traced around the hinge with a pencil so I would be able to align the door to the same postion. Removed two screws with a nut driver and removed the top hinge. The magnetic strip held the door in place until I grabbed it and pulled it open then lifted it up off of the bottom hinge. I layed the door on the island counter and pried the bearing hinge out of the door stop and replaced it with the new one. I probably could have stopped there but figured the plate might have been worn so I remove one phillips head screw from the bottom hinge, lifted the plate off, and replaced it with the new one. I assembled everything in reverse order and voila, no more popping noises.

Refrigerator door won't stay shut/grinds when closing
I removed the door (2 minutes) by removing the door hinge cover (one cross-tip screw) and then loosened the tuo hinge mounting bolts. I then removed the broken bearing hinge and plate (3 minutes) from the bottom of the door and installed the bearing and plate, and then re-installed the door (2 minutes). My four-year-old helped me.

when refrig door open it made a "clicking" noise.
The noise was made due to a loose part. I took the refrigerator door off and replaced the closer plate and hinge bearing. This solved the problem.
