Water Filter Bypass Plug 242294402

Hello Bill, Thank you for the question. The Water Filter Bypass will not filter the water. It is used to plug the filter housing so the water bypasses the filter and goes directly tot he ice maker or dispenser. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Hello Pam, Thank you for the question. With no filter in place, you may have a build up in the waterlines that is causing the water to flow at a flower rate effecting the ice maker and dispenser. We hope this helps!

Hi Gerald, thanks for your question! Water may sit in the bypass plug when the filter is not used, and buildup can occur occasionally. You may not need to necessarily replace the bypass plug (or any other water lines through your fridge) during the time you have it, but they should be inspected, cleaned and replaced as needed.
