This part, P3 on the diagram, when the plunger is depressed, is that supposed to make or break the connection? Same question for the other switch on the diagram (P6 maybe). Symptoms are that the engine immediately stops running when the clutch is released.
For model number LT160H42DBV

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your question. If the engine stops when the clutch is released this issue may be caused by either a seat switch or a seat switch connector failure. You will need to check the connections and make sure that they are fitted correctly. If the wires have corroded or debris has filled the connector that holds them, the safety switch can be fooled into thinking there is no one driving. This will cause the starter to fire and the safety switch will shut the engine off. If you have dirty or old fuel, this can choke a motor when it fires. Make sure that there is fresh fuel in the mower when you use it. Some other issues that may cause this issue are a dirty spark plugs, a clogged or damaged gas cap that is unable to vent, the carburetor and valves may not be correctly adjusted or the gaskets used for the carburetor are worn or damaged. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
