This OEM outer tine assembly is situated on the left side of your tiller, extending from the chain case assembly. It works alongside the inner tine assembly to dig into and break up the soil. Signs of a faulty outer tine assembly include uneven tilling and unusual noises. Look for visible cracks, breaks, or significant wear. A broken tine will result in decreased performance and potential damage to other components. To remove the existing outer tine, use pliers to detach the pins securing it. If the fasteners are stubborn, apply penetrating oil before attempting to loosen them. This left-hand outer tine assembly is sold separately from the right-hand outer tine and the inner tines.
