I can't get the part number wd34x11829 to install. Help please

Hi Holly,
Thank you for contacting us. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. To replace the control panel cover, you will need to move it a few inches away from the cabinet in order to remove the door from the dishwasher. Use a quarter inch socket or nut driver to remove the screws from bottom access panel. Remove the panel and any insulation you find. Now you can determine if the water line and power line have enough slack to remove the dishwasher. If not, you will need to shut off the water supply valve then use channel lock pliers to help unthread the water supply line fitting from the inlet valve. Be prepared for some water to spill. Then use nut driver to unthread the screws securing the junction box cover. Pull the cover off. Note the location of the wires and then untwist the wire nuts to disconnect the wires. Unthread the strained relief nut and detach the strained relief from the junction box. Disconnect the drain hose from the sink or garbage disposal and feed it through the cabinet. Open the dishwasher door and remove the mounting bracket screws. To move the dishwasher, you may have to adjust the legs so you can move the appliance. Now move the dishwasher carefully away from the cabinet. Unhook both door cables from the hinges. Disconnect the door wire connector and the detach the wires from the retainer. Now open the door and lift it up to remove it from the hinge supports. Use the nut driver to unthread the 2 lower screws securing the hinges. Slide the hinges out. Now remove the upper screws securing the inner door panel to the outer door panel. Slide the inner panel up to detach it. If still intact lift the old control cover up and push forward to remove. Install the new control cover by aligning the cover tabs with the slots in the inner panel then snap the cover into place. Put the door back together and reattach it to the dishwasher. Move the dishwasher back into place and secure it to the mounting brackets. Adjust the levelling legs. Reconnect the water and power lines and put access panel and insulation back in place. Restore power to the dishwasher and everything should work for you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Virtually impossible to install properly
GE should be ashamed of themselves. The door for this dishwasher needs to be removed and disassembled in order to replace the control panel, because THAT'S convenient. Why couldn't this have just been a snap-in repair? Despite several hours of effort we were not able to get this to fit properly and will just wind up gluing the old one back on. I would rate ZERO stars if that was an option.
Just glue the old one back on - it'll save you hours of frustration

Awful repair
The part worked great, but the amount of disasembly / re-assembly required to install the part was a pain. If you're a handyperson then you might do better than I did. I don't like this sort of thing. In the end, the part worked and the repair is made but it was a pain.
