Easy repair if you have screws; modern gas ranges and repair parts (Hotpoint, GE) lack quality
No problems with PartSelect (fast shipping, inexpensive price). It sells the parts; it doesn't make them. Our Hotpoint gas range is 4 years old and has been rusting since Day One, just like the more expensive GE gas range we replaced. The broiler drawer panel had rusted terribly, as has other parts of our Hotpoint gas range. All the screws for the drawer panel were star head screws, not included with the panel but can be bought separately from PartSelect or a local hardware store. The drawer panel received was in good shape except for 2 rectangular areas on the backside of the panel where the handle screws go. The paint in those areas showed more bare metal than paint. Replacing the panel was easy but the paint job on it is thin just like the old one was at first. So far, we've spent almost $200 in 4 years replacing parts on this range. We need to spend about $300 more to replace the oven door and side panels which are rusting badly from the bottom up. The top where the burners are is showing rust around the edges, too. A new affordable gas range would cost about $400 - $700. I treat my appliances with great care and it doesn't matter. They are made to self-destruct so we have to buy more appliances. Corporate greed rules the day.

RUSTED TRIM PEICE
REMOVED THE DOOR, TOOK THE SCREWS OUT OF THE BOTTOM AND REPLACED THE TRIM. IT TOOK CARE TO GET THE TRIM OVER THE GLASS ON THE DOOR. IT WENT RIGHT ON AND LOOKS LIKE NEW.
