Made me a Hero
I thought we were going to have to spend hundreds to replace our microwave. Found the link for the spring and the instructions. $29 later fixed it myself. I was a hero in my house. Ok only for a day but a hero nonetheless.

Microwave-door spring
The part arrived as promised, I put it in myself and the microwave is working fine. GE were going to charge about $150. However, for a spring like that it should not cost more than 4-5 dollars.

How does the front door come apart in order to replace spring 5008?
For model number PEB7226DF1BB
Hi Lee,
Thank you for your question. To disassemble your door you will need a putty knife or a thin flat head screw driver. There are tabs all along your front panel that hold it in place with the back panel of your door. You will have to slide your putty knife gently between the two parts are carefully pry them away from each other. Once you have that done, you should reveal the insides of your microwave door. Good luck with your repair.
