I'm looking for the defrost heater. This calls it a water reservoir heater. Is that the same?
Hello Wayne, thank you for your question. No, the water tank heater is not the same as the defrost heater. In order for us to locate the correct parts and repair information we will require the model number of the appliance. Once you have located the model number please feel free to resubmit the question and we will be happy to help you. Look forward to hearing from you!

My fridge seems to be cooling fine. I haven’t noticed anything not cold in the fridge. The condenser fan started getting ice buildup around it. When i got to the fan the coils were frozen over and i first thought the heater element was bad but checked out good along with the fan motor. I can’t get any olms on the water tank heater so i’m thinking it may be bad but i don’t understand what the purpose of this heater is and if it would cause the coils to freeze over. I’m leaning towards a sensor because the heating element under the coils doesn’t appear to be working but checks out as good. Thanks
For model number Rs275ACBP
Hi Richard,
Thank you for your question. I believe you are referring to the evaporator fan in your freezer. If it is getting ice buildup around it, then the drain may have debris in it preventing the water in the freezer from draining during the defrost cycle. As the freezer starts freezing again the water will start to freeze and cause ice to build up. You will need to check the drain to see if it is clogged and clean it out. Also, if you are not getting the correct reading the the water tank heater, then you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
