Hi Jerry, Thank you for your question. The red plastic button you are describing sounds like the reset button. If there is water leaking in the area of the reset button, then there is either a crack in the body of the disposer or issue with the flywheel gasket and the disposer will need to be replaced. Hello Lawrence, thank you for your question. First, unplug the unit. Then disconnect the dishwasher inlet port. Using a 3/8 inch nut driver or a flat head screw driver, unthread the mounting screws securing the tailpipe flange to the disposer. Now rotate the lock ring counter clockwise to release the disposer from the sink. If still intact, pull off the old splash guard to install the new splash guard. Align it over the lip on the top of the disposer. Reinstall the disposer by positioning it in the mounting bracket making sure the disposer's outlet port is aligned with the tailpipe. Confirm the tailpipe gasket is in place on the outlet port, then position the tailpipe flange with the port and thread the two screws to secure. Now fully rotate the disposer lock ring clockwise until it locks into place. Reattach the dishwasher drain hose to the inlet port, plug the power cord back in and the garbage disposer should be ready for use. We hope this helps!

Hello Andrew, Thanks for your question. Disconnect power to the unit. Remove the drain pipe from the disposal, then rotate the mounting ring to the lower disposal. Remove the old splash guard with a screwdriver and then install the new one. I hope this helps.
