The microwave comes on when we open the door (but still works when door is shut). It looks like this part comes with all 3 switches (and i gather that the likely reason we have the problem is that one of the switches is not functioning properly?). If i were to get this part, how easy is it to install? The 2 "instructions" just say that it is "very easy" but don't indicate how actually to do the installation.
For model number LMVM2075SW

Hi Apryl,
Thank you for your question. The switches do come with the locker holder assembly. We do not have the exact specifications on installing this part, but here are some instructions on installing a microwave switch, that may help you with this. "Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Use a Phillips head screw driver to unthread the screws securing the grill. With the screws removed, open the microwave oven door then the slide the grill to the left and lift it up to remove. Next remove the control panel mounting screw then lift the control panel up to detach. Then remove the screw holding the inner access panel and then release the panel from the retaining clips. Now remove the screws holding the switch assembly. Depress the release tab and the actuator to detach the switch you are replacing. Disconnect the wire connector to fully release the old switch. Install the new door switch by first connecting the wire connector. Now position the new switch in the assembly snap it into place. Realign the switch assembly on the frame and secure it with the screws. Reinstall the inner access panel securing it with the screw. Now insert the control panel tabs to the slots in the frame and push the panel down. Secure it with the mounting screw. Insert the tabs of the grill into the frame and slide it to the right. Shut the oven door and then secure the grill with the screws. Plug the power cord back in and the microwave should now work." I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

diagnosed defective 'door-shut switch' in the switch holder assembly. rather than replace switch, replaced entire locker holder assembly which made for a very simple and easy repair...not to mention very inexpensive.

One of the switches in a component that door activates when shut.
I replaced the whole component with all three switches in it even though only one switch was bad . Taking out one switch out of the holder unit would probably have damaged the unit that was holding the switches. Easy install and it works great again .

Microwave not heating, everything else works
Not knowing which of the switches to replace I ordered all three in the assembly. Replacing the full assembly was easy, first unplug the microwave. Then remove the top cover to access the screws that hold the control panel in place and let the control panel hang. There are two screws that hold the assembly in place - remove those. I used needle nose pliers to pull the wires off of the switches and immediately put the wires on to the new assembly so there was no confusion on what wire went where. Place the assembly back in position, replace the two screws to hold it in, put control panel in place and secure screws. Replace top cover and plug in.

food does not get hot, carousel did not turn, all other indicators worked
Read the troubleshooting section on this site. Figured it was an interlock problem because the food was not getting hot (magentron not turning on) and the carousel was not turning. Did not think both the carousel motor and magnetron failed at same time, thus indicated an interlock problem. The interlock switches are actuated by the door latch. Replaced the assembly locker piece with all three switches (only a $20 dollar part) and microwave was fully operational again. Wife and kids think I am a hero.

LG Microwave would not heat!
This part that I ordered came fairly quick. Lately the Mail has been slow but not PartsSelect fault. I had originally just ordered the switches but found that trying to replace just the switches was NOT easily going to be done. They don’t just pop out of the latch unit.
Replacing the entire part was easier and the repair was made. This solved the problem where the Microwave would not turn on to heat! Timer would count down, turntable would NOT turn as well.
I have never ordered parts from here before but my appliances are getting old now and I will be counting on PartsSelect for future repairs.
I like the fact that they have a Problem Solving DataBase to reference. And they are pretty much on target as to what the problem could be and what the repair could also be as well.
Thank You PartsSelect

great service
The service and speed was great but, the parts they make for these products are cheap and short lived. That is why I ordered two.
Jim B - November 24, 2018

did not fix
although it said this would fix the problem 98% of the time I was in the other 2%. the part wasn't that bad to install but I wasn't going to keep throwing parts at it
