This hinge bushing is a genuine OEM replacement part for your refrigerator. This part works with the door hinge to keep the door in proper alignment with the fridge cabinet. If the hinge bushing is damaged or out of place, the door may not shut flush with the cabinet, causing cold air to leak out of the fridge.

Easy 10 min repair, should be able to get many more years out of the fridge/freezer
I think wearing out of the part is a design flaw: the storage volume in the door is so large that when filled with fluid/drinks the pressure on the top hinge is too high, causing extensive wear and tear. This is probably generally true for fridge freezers and the cynic in me thinks this is to support continuous sales of a tool that can go on for decades (you know, like the owner ;) ). However, this is a great solution, for about $10 incl shipping expenses we will delay transfer to a landfill and get many more years out of the fridge/freezer.
Although I knew the part existed it took me a long time to find it on the website as it was not listed for our model but it was for other models. It seems to be in the picture but only as part a kit, presumably sold to move the door hinge.
Also, we left repair a bit late and wear and tear has extended not only into the bushing but also (out of view) in the door exterior. However, there was no need to fill this up.

Can you give a description of this part?
For model number GDSLOKCXERLS
Hi Susan,
Thank you for your inquiry. The hinge bushing is white and c-shaped. It is approximately over half an inch long and just under half an inch wide. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

What i am looking for is the plastic cap that runs across the top of the door that the hinge bushing goes into (both, top cap plus and the hinge bushing are broken).
For model number GDSCOKCXERWW
Hello Robert, thank you for your question. The hinge bushing is available, but the top cap of the actual door itself is not a replaceable part on its own. The whole door would have to be ordered to replace the top cap that is on the fridge door. I hope this helps!

Why does bottom freezer door open when you shut top refrigerator door, and vice versa ?
For model number GE ABE20EGEBRWS
Hello Carl, Thank you for contacting us! It is possible that the gaskets on the doors are becoming weak and the impact of closing the doors causes this reaction. Alternatively, the same could go for the closing cams. You will need to inspect these parts for any signs of wear or physical damage: PS3487796 GASKET, PS3503351 GASKET, PS2374572 STOP DOOR FF, and PS2370918
STOP DOOR. Good luck with your repair!
