How does this part attach to my refrigerator? Can I do this myself? The flap sticks and water/ice spew all over the floor. A spring fell out. Is this the right part? Thanks

Thanks for your question. This part attaches to the fridge via removing the dispenser control panel. It should be able to be installed by you with little issue. You may also want the spring, part number PS285013, since yours fell out.

Thank you for your question. There is a video on our website that you can reference on how to install the control panel. The refrigerator in the video may not show exactly like the one you have and the part being installed is an electronic control board, but it does show how to remove a control panel .
