The button that is used to activate the dryer is broken. I can make the dryer work by pressing the gray button on the control panel. Is this part the "support switch" (dwg 1, part 2) that is shown in the diagram?

Item 2 on diagram of the control panel states "support switch", however, the diagram doesn't show much. What is this switch and what does it do?

Hi Norman, Thank you for the question. The Support Switch is a metal housing that sits between the front panel with overlay and the Control Board Assembly.The board and front panel attach to this switch support. Hope this helps!
