The round style oven igniter is also known as an oven bake or broil igniter and is compatible with your range appliance. The function of the round style oven igniter is to pull electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. If your igniter is glowing for more than ninety seconds but it has not ignited the gas flame, that means that the igniter is not powerful enough to open the valve. Be very careful when handling this igniter as it is very fragile. This igniter has a range of 2.5 to 3.0 amps. Note that this round igniter will not replace flat style igniters.

Oven igniter didn't work.
The bolts were below the base of the oven, and very difficult to remove and replace. The directions were not applicable to our unit. The good news was the igniter was correct, even though we had to adapt the bracket.

Ignitor burned out and would not allow oven to heat
This oven is from 1993 and a lot less complicated than today's models probably are. The first things to do are to remove the oven door and broiler pan. On this model, the oven door simply lifts off the hinges. Once these are gone, you want to remove the oven floor. To remove, locate the two screws at the back of the floor. After removing,
... Read more lift the floor up and towards the back to pull the floor tongue out of the groove in the front. This will expose the gas jet and ignitor assembly. At the front of the jet pipe is a screw that holds the pipe to the front center of the frame - it is underneath so you may have to bend over to see it, it can be felt easily as well. Remove this screw, this will allow the pipe to be moved a little later. In front of the assembly is a vertical metal plate with a screw at the right of the mounting the plate into the broiler floor. Remove the screw and slide the plate to the left to pull out another tongue/groove set-up. Now you should see the wires completely and the connection to the air-flow adjuster. There is a small screw in the front of this brass fitting, it does not need to be touched. Turn the burner pipe clockwise while lifting and this should pop the assembly up. The ignitor is mounted to the burner pipe by 2 screws that are found on the bottom of the mount. Remove the 2 screws, this will allow the ignitor to hang free. Be sure to pay attention to what wire attaches to what wire, I marked the left wire so that I knew which to reconnect to after the change over. Remove the caps on the wires if this unit has been removed before, if not then mark the wires on both the replacement unit and the original wires. My ignitor has been replaced before, so I used my wire cutter to clean-up the ends of the old connection before reconnecting the new replacement. At this point, you should be able to fire-up the oven, it might take a moment for the new one to warm up, so give about 30-40 seconds. If the oven fires up, it's then working to put everything into place in reverse order. I like to line up the parts and pieces as I remove so I can just put back in reverse.

Oven igniter not functioning.
Unplugged the electrical.Removed the door, removed the oven racks and removed the bottom pan. Removed the wire nuts from the two wires. Removed the burner tube. Removed the Igniter. Installed in reverse order. It was very easy however it was the third igniter that I had to replace in this range so I was used to it.

Igniter would not glow and light oven.
Straight forward as per instructions. Removed old igniter, replaced and tested new one and it worked. However, the gas oven would not turn of. Valve may be defective. Knob control is not stripped and turned to full stop. Troubleshooting continues. Part(s) and instructions worked perfectly.

2 hexhead screws on back side of igniter with no room to get to them.
They turned out to be 1/4 inch hex head screws. Only after soaking with penetrating oil could we budge them. There must be a special tool to loosen them on the back side where there is no room to get a socket on them and since they are in the heated part of the oven they are almost welded in. We were successful, but could only get one

I removed the wire nuts and using two alligator clips I connected the meter to the bare wires coming from the oven wall. I then hit BAKE again and BINGO! Oven worked but broiler wouldn't work
Moved stove out from wall and unplugged 110 cord. Removed broken igniter from broiler with nut driver. Removed protective cover from back of stove. Cut off plug from existing igniter wires on the back of the stove. Installed new igniter and fed wires trough to the back of stove and connected the wires with the supplied wire nuts. Reinstal

Broiler works, top burners work. Bake does not at all. Any solutions? Thanks! (checked gas valve....it was closed. I opened it and still no bake). perhaps a new igniter or something else?

Hi Lee, Thank you for the question. I suggest replacing the Oven Igniter. If the igniter is not giving off enough volts the valve will not open to allow gas through. Hope this helps!

My oven will not even try and do anything. The stove top works just fine and the timer and all the other buttons on the back splash work just fine. It's just that the oven will not heat up. There is no gas smell and it doesn't click like the igniter is trying to start it. Please help!?

My burners work and the broiler works. However, when i turn on the oven to bake and set the temperature to 350, the oven than goes to 100 instead. It does not heat up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The broiler and the burners ignite but the oven will not heat? I believe i need to replace the ignitor, correct?

Hi Roberta, thank you for your question. There are a few parts that could cause this issue in your appliance. First I would say test your igniters with a multi meter to see if they are working correctly or not. They should be reading between 0 - 1100 ohms to be working correctly. The other part you should check would be your oven temperature sensor. That can also be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 1000 - 1100 ohms. If those three parts are fine however, then the issue may be in your control board. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

From time to time we get a gas smell prior to ignition. Otherwise everything works fine after that

Hello Michael, thank you for your question. Check the burner tubes for any debris in the tube or the holes where the gas comes out of. Sometimes if the holes are covered with grease or food debris the tube cannot bring gas out in the right flow which causes a buildup of gas before it lights. If it takes a bit more time to light and you get the smell of gas that usually means the igniter is not functioning each time properly. We would recommend replacing the oven igniter to fix this issue. The bake igniter is IGNITOR Part Number: PS2581803 and the broil igniter is IGNITOR Part Number: PS2581802. Hi, this is Wes again, regarding the wall oven with the pilot light situation. I've sent the model number to see if that helps, once again it doesn't light and I'm not sure if it's the igniter or not, but it will not even light. Can't even light the pilot light, thanks
