This is replacement vent grille for your microwave. You will find the grill vent either above or below the microwave door, depending on your model. If your microwave vent grill is discolored or cracked, or if the mounting brackets for the grill are broken, you may need to replace it. You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver to detach the vent grill from the microwave. This part is made of stainless steel and is approximately 30 inches wide and 4 inches tall. This product is sold individually.

While attempting to get some from the cabinet above my microwave, a guest accidently pulled on the top grill vent and caused the plastic screw tap to crack and break leaving the grill vent hanging.
I first went back Lowe's where I purchased my microwave in the hopes they would help in the ordering of the grill vent for my mircrowave. They advised me that they do not order parts and gave me a card of a company to call to order the part. I called the number on the card and was left on hold for 20 minutes then instead of helping me wit

I knew that it was just 2 screws and bottom snaps to install and I didn't want to wait a week for someone to come to my home. I then went direct to the Whirlpool web-site and found "Partselect.com". I was unable to match my model# even though my microwave was only 13 months old but knew it was probably interchangeable with another so I then called "Partselect.com" and was just amazed at how helpful and knowledgeable the gentleman on the other end was. He found my part and was very patient in describing it to me to assure that it was the correct one. I was on the phone less than 10 minutes with him. The part came in 3 days and was the correct part:) It took me less than 5 minutes to gently snap the 2 bottom tabs in and screw in the left and right tabs on top. Thank you so much "Partselect.com" for making what could have been a timely and expensive part replacement be so very simply and inexpensive.

Your part number 6 looks like the cover over my microwave door, but it measures 29 3/4” wide and is 3” tall. Is this the right part?

Where does the charcoal filter go and does the vent grill not have a lid/top?

Hi Eva, thank you for your inquiry. The charcoal filter, part number PS1871363, is located behind the vent grille at the top front of the microwave oven. You may need to unscrew and open the vent grille to gain access to the charcoal filter. The vent grille does not have any lid or top. Glad to be of assistance!

So I checked on my rental and found that there was grease on the cabinets and walls and ceiling above the microwave. I noticed that the vent grille didn't have anything directing the venting away from the cabinet, or filtering it. Is there not a filter or some type of vents that go on top of the vent grille part #6 in the diagram???

Hi Chris,
Thank you for the question. It sounds like you need to replace the Grease filter. This is a grease filter and the purpose of this part is to be used in conjunction with your ventilation system. Your grease filter will trap grease and help eliminate odors from the exhaust air while cooking.This model is silver and sold individually. Note that most microwaves require two. The filter is located on the bottom of the microwave.
