NOT COOLING
First download schematic from frigidaire.com and watch a few youtube videos on fixing refrigerators .At first my guess was the timer was stuck on the defrost mode .However after studying the schematic I checked to see if the power was being sent to the compressor through the starter ptc .The 110 v was there after pulling off the conne

Read morector .Also the condenser fan was on confirming this . however the compressor was stone cold .the compressor has 3 inputs whose resistances across all seemed good (see youtube videos) so it was probably the ptc starter or the 15microfarad capacitor .I changed the capacitor first -not the problem .then the ptc starter .immediatey the compressor started warming and after a few minutes cold air was being blown in .Very satisfying !

My unit will not run, how do I fix it.
For model number FRT18S6AWX
Hello Barry, Thank you for the question. With the information provided, I suggest testing the Run Capacitor,PartSelect Number PS3495561 and the Start Device, PartSelect Number PS2331559. You can use a multi meter to test for continuity. Hope this helps!
Fridge has been unplugged and not running for about 4 years, I would ocassionally plug it in to see if still working . It would always come on and work fine and cool down . Recently , I did the same procedure and after about 15 mins , fridge stopped and kept blowing GFCI , well now it doesn't blow plug and light stays on but not running at all . Thank you in advance for your help !!
For model number frt8g6fmb4
Hi Samuel, thank you for your interesting question. If plugging your fridge is tripping GFCI often, it is possible that you are plugging your fridge into an overloaded circuit. To prevent this from happening, make sure that your refrigerator has a dedicated circuit. You can do it by plugging your refrigerator into an alternative power outlet and seeing if it still trips. We would also recommend to check the power cord of your fridge, it can get damaged which causes a short circuit to occur. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

We had a recent power outage and the next day my freezer is not cold and neither is my fridge. Freezer stays at 32° and fridge is at 45°. Would i need both the run and start capacitor to fix the issue?
For model number FRT18L4JW
Hello Rhamee, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the run capacitor, the defrost timer, defrost thermostat, the cold control thermostat, the condenser fan motor and the evaporator fan motor. You can test these parts with a multimeter to see if they have continuity. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter works, there are videos available on our site to assist you. Good luck with your repair.
It transported on its side with compressor side down then after installing it which took about 45 minutes it was plugged in, the light came on but the compressor did not start the cooling. Could it be in defrost cycle? How can you tell its defrosting and how long does the cycle last?
For model number CRTE184JQ2
Hello Ken, Thank you for the question. When a Refrigerator is laid down on its side you need to wait 24 hours before plugging it in to prevent damage to the compressor. If after 24 hours with the appliance unplugged the compressor is still not running, we suggest having the compressor checked. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
