What causes the grease to come out of the grill assembly? Microwave is above the stove and when we fry instead of going up the vent the grease is coming through constantly on the grill. Checked the vent up in the attic and it is fine. Have been cleaning the filter regularly and took the grill assembly off and cleaned it thoroughly.
Why does it do this? We have had it since November of 09 and other than this problem it works good and it never use to do this but now it is greasy all the time.

Hello Den, thank you for the question. According to our research, the microwave sits over your stove, it also functions as a hood vent. Unfortunately, it is not just smoke and exhaust that rises up into this vent in your microwave, it is also grease particles. To protect the appliance and the vent, your over-the-range microwave is equipped with a grease filter, PS952418. If you have taken a peek at the underside of your microwave and found that it is looking extra greasy, it is time to replace it. We hope that helps!
