I've pulled ice dispenser system out to inspect auger. When paddle is depressed the motor makes noise but very rarely spins. Does this indicate the motor is bad? Simply want to verify before ordering part.

Does ice maker have to be removed to install auger motor?

Hello Frank, thank you for the question. Yes, you have to remove the icemaker to install the new auger motor. We have attached the relevant video link which will help you to access the auger motor. The video and the instructions mentioned may not be for the exact model but will help you. Once you access the auger motor, then just un-thread the screws that are holding the auger motor. And take the motor out. After that, follow back the same steps to install a new auger motor. We hope this information is useful!

Replaced the auger motor but fridge still will not dispense or crush ice. All the front panel buttons light up, it will dispense water, and it still makes ice. What's the next piece to troubleshoot?

Hello Renee, thank you for your question. It sounds like the solenoid that changes the bucket from crushed to cubed and back is not functioning properly. We would recommend replacing PartSelect Number: PS8691994 Crushed/Cubed Ice Solenoid Assembly. I hope this helps!

Should the auger work when ice maker is off?

Hello Bobby, thank you for reaching out. If the ice maker is turned off, then the auger motor should not be operating unless it has some issue. To see if the auger motor is defective, we suggest that you pull out the ice bucket and turn the bucket auger by hand. If the auger is moving freely, use a multimeter to test for continuity in the motor. If the motor does not have continuity, then you might need to replace it with part number PS10057235.
