If your microwave is not turning on it could be due to your fuse needing to be replaced. This part protects the microwave by shutting it off if there is an electrical surge. This fuse is just over an inch long, is metallic on both ends and ceramic in the middle. Before beginning this repair, unplug the appliance and wait a few minutes before starting. Remove the outer cabinet which is held in place with two screws. You will then locate the power cord which will lead you to the fuse holder. Determine if the fuse has blown. Using an ohmmeter, you should be able to figure out if it has blown. A proper reading is zero ohms, if it reads as anything else then your fuse has in fact blown. Simply snap the old fuse out of place and place the new one in.

How can I locate the part holding the fuse? The device doesn't turn on i think is the fuse, but I don't know where the fuse box is located in the device.
For model number MH1170XSS2
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your question. Make sure to unplug your appliance. To get to your fuse, you will have to remove your grille from above your door and you will have to unscrew and remove your control panel. There is a small metal vent on the top right hand side of your appliance, your fuse is located in there. Be very careful. If you do not release the charge from your capacitor, you may get electrocuted. You can release the charge with a screw driver with an insulated handle. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Control panel, clock, light, turntable all work, but unit does not heat. Does the fuse control all power to all parts? In other words, could my problem be simply the fuse even though the control panel, etc. Still work or do I have a bigger problem? Thanks.
For model number GH6178XPQ0
Hi Jay,
Thank you for the question. Normally if the appliance seems to be working as normal other then the heat the fuse will be fine. Sounds like you need to replace the Magnetron, This part is used to generate microwave energy/heat.
Hope this helps!

When I push start, the microwave blinks off, can this be the fuse?
For model number MH1170XSB5
Hi Patricia, Thank you for the question. If the fuse was blown the appliance would not turn on at all. If the appliance has power but shuts off when you hit start you may have an issue with the Electric Control Board,PartSelect Number PS11750128. Hope this helps!
Hi Patricia,
Thank you for your question. No, it is always best to purchase the fuse that is listed under the microwave's model number to insure it runs correctly. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Microwave wont start i entered time to cook and it changes the screen to "door"
For model number WBH31017FB-0
Hello Dixie, thank you for your question. The door switches have probably failed, which is resulting in the control board thinking the door is open when its not. We would recommend replacing the door switches part number Door Switch Number: PS2361111, Door Switch Number: PS2361113 and Door Switch - 3 Terminal Number: PS10057151. I hope this helps!

This is a Whirlpool Microwave. Do you replace the fuse in the same way as a customer by the name of Arnie asked about replacing the fuse in a different brand?
For model number MH2155XPB0
Hi Laurie,
Thank you for your question. Here are some detailed instructions that you may reference for information on how to replace the fuse. NOTE: If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, please get an electrician to do this repair. Before you begin any repair, please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the grill. With the screws removed, open the microwave oven door then the slide the grill to the left and lift up to remove it. Next remove the control panel mounting screw and then lift the control panel up to detach. Then remove the screw holding the inner access panel and then release the panel from the retaining clips. To avoid injury, you will need to release the potentially dangerous charge from the capacitor by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the terminals. Be careful not to touch the metal portion of the tool. We have included a link from our website that you may reference for more information on how to discharge the capacitor. Use pliers to detach the old fuse from the noise filter board. Install the new fuse by snapping it into the bracket. Replace the inner access panel and secure it with the screws. Now insert the control panel tabs into the slots in the frame and push the panel down. Secure it with the mounting screw. Insert the tabs of the grill into the frame and slide it to the right. Shut the oven door and then secure the grill with the screws. Plug the power cord back in and the microwave should now work. We hope this helps. If you would like to place an order for a fuse, customer service is open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
The light went out and when i remover the bulb it exploded. Put new bulb in but light does not work. Is there a fuse that controls the light if so where is it located? Every thing else works fine.
For model number WMH31017AB-4
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your inquiry. Where the bulb is not coming on you may need to replace the socket it goes into as well as the wiring connected to it and its power source. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

No power to microwave
For model number GMH3204XVS1
Hi Jason, Thank you for the question. If there is no power going to the microwave, I suggest testing the outlet it is plugged into or checking the power cord. If there is power going to the appliance but it will not power on, I suggest replacing the fuse. Hope this helps!

2 weeks ago I replaced the fuse because the only thing working was the time on the front panel. Microwave was working great until yesterday when I came home and noticed that the light was on inside, but the door was shut. As soon as I opened the door, it tripped the breaker. Any ideas?
For model number WMH53520AE0
Hi Matt,
Thank you for your question. If your microwave is blowing the fuses, the issue may be with the microwave door switches. If the switches are malfunctioning of if the door is misaligned, this can cause the breaker to trip. This may also be caused by a short in the controller near the line cord that feeds power into the microwave unit. The cooling fan motor in your microwave may have also failed and this would cause the fuse to blow. You will need to inspect the parts to verify what is causing the issue. Also, make sure the microwave has its own dedicated outlet. If there are too many appliances plugged into the same circuit, the breaker will trip. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

Microwave wouldn't turn on and found breaker been tripped and then microwave wouldn't turn on at all.
Read some instructions and easily found the fuse. Replaced it. Still didn't work. Took control panel off to check door switches. Nothing I read mentioned a second fuse. Tested and it to had blown. Ordered another one. Popped them in. Done.

A bit pricey, you can buy a two pack of these from a hardware store for 5 dollars less. But, overall happy with purchase.
