Lightning strike blew out my GE cooktop
Wife said cooktop was not working. I cut power and dropped the cover on the electronics box under the burners and could see it was burnt up. Looked like it would be hard to fix so I ordered a new cooktop. However, they couldn't place order until they measured - and that would not be for a week. So, I thought I would order the circuit board to see if I could replace it. Parts Select had good links to appliance parts so ordering was easy. Needed help to pull out the cooktop and flip it over but switching in the new board was relatively easy although there were lots of connectors to keep straight. Turned it on and it worked like new and cancelled order. Saved $1300 and was a hero.

The eyes come on then go off while cooking. After that, they will not come back on. None of them turn on after this happens. When the top cools off, it may come back on, or it may take until the next day. It will then will do the same thing. Can you help?

Hello Danny, Thanks for your question. This could be a problem with the control board itself, though you may also want to test each element for continuity with a multimeter, and replace any that do not show electrical continuity. I hope this helps.

I have a GE profile cooktop pp975sm3ss. The lights on the cooktop panel light up when i turn on the heating elements. Although none of the heating elements heat up. This is the case for all elements. 220 power is on at the cooktop. I am thinking it is either the daughter board or the main board. Is their a way to narrow it down to one or the other as the problem? Thx paul

Hello and thank you for writing. It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty main PS1481066or daughterboard PS1481205the only sure way to know which one is faulty would be to check the part(s) for signs of damage, such as shorts which will show in black burn marks or test with a multimeter, and replace the part(s) as needed. However, you should consider that one or more of the elements PS2321558 has gone faulty as this will also cause these symptoms. Again you would need a multimeter for continuity testing, which is easier to diagnose than a problem with the boards themselves. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

we lost power during severe weather and when electrical power came back on our stovetop does not work. none of the controls will not light nor any of the burners heat up. I've had the stovetop for 12 years and this is the first trouble I've had. Check the breaker and everything ok.

Hi Billy, thank you for reaching out. If your cooktop does not work after a power surge, the most likely cause is a shorted control board. To fix the issue, you may need to check the following parts: the relay control board, part number PS1481205, and the main control board, part number PS1481066. We hope this solves your problem!
