Strange noise coming from the dishwasher, later a small leak appearing underneath
A noisy dishwasher and water coming from underneath was being caused by a torn hose that is factory connected to the diverter. It was a little difficult to see at first as the hose sits slightly kinked when in it's normal position. Access to the diverter involves removal of the circulation pump. I ordered a new diverter which comes with metal screw on clamps. The main difficulty in installing is the positioning and alignment of the diverter and pump. My first effort resulted in a ripping of the attached diverter hose as I attempted to secure. I ordered another diverter. This time I used a lubricant to allow movement of the connecting hoses and made sure to not overtighten the clamps. I used a small mirror to make sure that the various hoses sat properly. Alignment took a bit of time. I then gently tightened the hoses. I ran the dishwasher, and found a leak, meaning that I needed to tighten these clamps a bit more. This is a doable repair that needs patience. The dishwasher is now very quiet and runs great!

Diverter assembly leaking
This is a replacement that is straightforward but a bit mechanical. For an experienced engineer it was no problem but for the common household this is a repair best left to the pros. Fixed the issue no problem and the dishwasher is working perfectly now.

Water leak, no power, shorted control motherboard, diverter passive main assembly rubber hose had hole in it.
repair under warranty for Home Depot. Ordered new controller, new sump manifold, new piranh clamp kit, new diverter passive main assy, installation took 6 months. Could not finish as GE had changed the diverter to a new design with the same part number that the repairman had no knowledge of and there is no part available for the same configuration of the one that went bad, after I called GE tech line they were not aware of updates. Giving me the same numbers. The new design works if you order a new conduit main. As the old one in the dishwasher will not connect to the new Diverter. New deverter no. WD19X25278 and the new main conduit is the same as the old configuration no.WD12X21681 . The repair people and parts people are not yet aware of the design change and availability of parts, as most are out of stock and no updated pictures of the new design. Repair warranty washed their hands of this and Home Depot after 6 months gave me credit of my full price I bought this for 3 yrs ago. Repairing myself and sell.

Thank you for the advice. Just a further question. The pump seems to be operating at full pressure. The lower arm spins rather well and appears to reach the upper portions of the tub. Dishes are generally cleaning well, except at the upper rack which is further away from the functioning lower arm and is blocked by the lower dishes. How does the water inlet valve function and affect our problem, and where is it located? The water level in the bottom seems adequate to prevent pump cavitation. Could the diverter valve be blocked by debris?

Hi Carl, Thank you for your question. The water inlet valve allows water to flow into the dishwasher at the proper rate. If it malfunctions, then it would prevent water from flowing properly into the dishwasher. The diverter valve allows water to flow into the upper spray arms. If it is damaged or malfunctioning, it will need to be replaced. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hello, Tech Support. The upper wash arm on my GE Dishwasher is not spinning. It spins freely, but it seems no water is making it to the arm assembly. I've checked this by quickly opening the door to see it clearly hadn't been spinning but the lower one had been. I've cleaned out the user accessible parts, filter and trap at the bottom. I've tried different setting configurations at the panel. The lights are both lit to operate the "Upper" and "Lower" rack selection. I've studied the schematics and so far can only identify the possibility it points to the #504, Diverter Assembly Kit (PS12710077). Am I overlooking anything? Should I check anything else? Is there a solenoid I should check? Thank you in advance. Carl

Hello Carl, thank you for contacting us. Besides the diverter kit, the issue is most probably related to a faulty water inlet valve, part number PS12743161, and the circulation pump, part number PS11772000. Please make sure the valve is providing water at a proper rate and the circulation pump is adding enough pressure to it to circulate it through the upper arm. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you require assistance placing an order. Thanks again for reaching out!

When I start a cycle, as soon as it fills with water and the cleaning action start, water pours out of the diverter assembly somewhere. I cleaned the filters inside the dishwasher, removed the diverter and examined the seal for damage and did not find any. I was going to order the diverter assembly unless there were other suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Hi Ray, thank you for contacting us. Based on our research, the issue is most probably related to the diverter motor assembly, part number PS12710077. Before replacing it, inspect the different parts attached to it, which might not be properly clamped. We hope this solves your problem!

MY DISHWASHER IS LEADING FROM BOTTOM OF DOOR. SEEMS TO COME FROM MIDDLE OF DOOR. NOT QUITE SURE OF PARTS THAT NEED TO REPLACED. I WAS THINKING OF GASKET OF BOTTOM OF DOOR, BUT CANNOT FIND PART. I FOUND THE DOOR GASKET BUT DO NOT THINK THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

Hello Fredrick, thank you for your inquiry. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest checking the diverter assembly, part number PS12710077, to fix the issue. It is used to control the flow of water to the spray arms. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Something like this sits on the feed to the upper spray arm. A GE repairman installed the lower spray arm on the wrong one of the two outlets (inlets?), so the arm hits the back of the machine wall and can't rotate. How do I remove it and what if anything do I put into the opening where the spray arm sits now? Or do I need to get a repairman in who knows what he is doing?
