Hello Larry, Thank you for the question. The Lint Cover Door helps the Lint Screen to stay in place and collect lint properly. If the Filter is not properly seated it will catch on clothes and break or rip your clothing. It will also allow lint to pass through into the Duct and over time can create a lint build up and a fire hazard. We suggest having the Cover Door replaced.
