I've read through the articles provided on my initial inquiry "my dryer won't turn off". After following suggested diagnostics from here, i have isolated the problem to become with what appears to be known as the timer switch. The knob is in the upper far right of the control panel and allows selection of automatic dry, timed dry, fluff, etc. In any of those selections the knob does not continue to move after it is set and the dryer turned on. The diagram shows the part as '19', the list calls this a 'locator' switch with no picture and no description of what it does. Is the 'locator' a timer switch for my dryer?
