My Whirlpool side by side stopped making ice. It's continually making noise, as if ice is dropping into the container, but nothing is there. I just replaced the water inlet valve, hoping that would solve the problem. It did not. Now, I'm wondering if I should replace the entire ice maker part (for $137). Any advice for me? Thank you!

Hi Mike, Thank you for the question. yes if the ice maker is not making ice and the valve is fine we suggest replacing the ice maker its self. You can test to see if the ice maker is working by pouring a glass of water into the ice maker to see if it makes ice. If it makes ice as normal then it isn't sending a the signal to the valve to fill it will water. In this case you may need to replace the Thermostat . Hope this helps!

My ice maker on our Whirlpool side by side quit making ice. Thinking it might be the thermostat because ice is still in the mold waiting to be ejected. What are your thoughts.

Hello Mark, Thank you for your inquiry. I would check your ice mold-which has a heater at the bottom that allows the ice to be ejected into the bucket, the cycling thermostat, and the ice maker motor. You can test the mold and thermostat with a multimeter, if you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter works, there are videos online to assist you. To test the ice maker motor, take the cap off, there are little holes on the front that should be labeled H, L, T and M, insert a curved piece of wire into the two holes labeled T&H, and see if the ejector arm moves on the icemaker. If it doesn't, try L&M to see if the motor responds. If the motor responds, but the ejector arm didn't move, then there may be an issue with the ice maker itself. Hope this helps!

Ice Maker leaks at back when filling causing ice to freeze together. It starts dripping when it starts to fill so I don't think it's an overflow situation. Do you think a new ice maker will fix it.

Hello Bill, thank you for your inquiry. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest checking the fill tube. If it is not faulty, then you may need to replace the ice maker assembly, part number PS11752389, to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
