I am only able to get hot water to come on to do a wash. Will a new four way switch take care of the issue of not being able to use the cold, cool, and warm cycles?
For model number Whirlpool Roper Washer RTW4440VQ1
PartSelect logo
Hi Lawrence, Thank you for your inquiry. Where no hot water is coming into the washer you will need to check the water inlet valve, the temperature switch and the pump. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I am only getting cold water in my machine, i tried turning the temperature mixing valve, but no change. If i buy a new 4 position switch, do you think it will take care of my hot water issue, thank you..
For model number wtw5500sq2
PartSelect logo
Hello Ron, thank you for your question. The issue could be the temperature switch or the water valve itself. The hot water port on the water valve might be bad and stuck in the closed position, not letting any hot water into the unit. I would recommend testing the valve before ordering. If the valve is tested and is working properly the temperature switch should be replaced. I hope this helps!

Hello Paul, thank you for contacting us. This is most likely due to a faulty Water Inlet Valve and Thermistor Assembly, part number PS11742194 for your model. You may also want to consider this Temperature Switch, part number PS11749784 as the cause. Good luck with your repair!

Some times the washer does not have cold water going into the tube on the rinse cycle some times when you shake the hose it start which sounds a little crazy. We changed both inlet hoses and cleaned the small screens at the entry points would it be the temperature 4position switch
For model number wtw5500sq2
PartSelect logo
Hi Ron, Thank you for the question. If you are able to shake the fill hose and have the cold water start you may have a loose connection to the water valve. I suggest maybe removing the back panel to expose the valve to see if all the wires are hooked up properly. If this doesn't fix the issue you may need to replace the water valve. The part number to the valve is PS11742194. Hope this helps !

My washer produces severe water hammer in my hot water lines in my house when the washer needs hot water. I took a chance and installed a new fill valve assembly, hoping it was the hot water solenoid valve that was going bad. Did not fix the issue. Would it be safe to assume that it’s the temperature switch at this point? Thanks!
For model number WTW5590VQ1
PartSelect logo
Hello Luke, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, the temperature switch regulates the temperature of the water in the tub. The water hammer might be caused by trapped air in the pipes. We would suggest checking the hot water pressure in the pipe that supplies water to the washer. If pipes are not secured correctly, or perhaps have become unsecured completely, shock waves within the pipework are likely to be exacerbated by the physical banging of the pipe itself. Also, check the pipes for leaks or damage. The hammering sounds might be caused by two pipes hitting each other from the force of the water being shut off. Sometimes the straps holding the pipes to the framing come loose, allowing the pipes to bang together. We hope this information helps!

My washer pulses during the fill on almost never temperature setting except cold. It pulses on cold sometimes too. Will this fix it?
For model number MTW5600TQ2
PartSelect logo
Hello Nathanial, Thank you for the question. This sounds like it might be a defective Water Inlet Valve, PartSelect Number: PS11742194. This water inlet valve attaches the water lines to the back of your appliance. The attaching solenoids on the valve open and close according to the desired temperature, or amount of water needed.Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!

Have cold water, and warm, not hot. If I turn the cold off at the faucet when the washer is turned is on and only the hot is on with both valves open no water at all comes out. Hoses are not blocked, nor are lines.

For model number 110.28632701

Hello Bud and thanks for writing. Why is my washer not using hot water? If the washer fills properly in the rinse cycle, it will eliminate a bad cold water valve as your failure. In this case, you may have a bad temperature selector switch, failed timer or wiring problem. ... If the washer will not fill in the rinse cycle, you may have a bad water supply, failed valve or a wiring problem. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime
