Hidden bake element, oven doesn't maintain hear
To access the hidden bake element you have to remove the warmer drawer and the left side panel (your left from the back of the oven). To remove the side panel you need to access 3 screws under the side of the glass top, to lift the glass top open the oven door and remove 2 screws from the bottom side of the glass top. Once the drawer and side panel are removed you can use a flat head screwdriver to pry out the false bottom on the front side of the oven and remove 2 more screws on the side so it drops down. Move the insulation out of the way and relase the element tray by prying out 2 tabs on the front side. Unplug the connectors from the element terminals and remove the bolt holding the element. Fold the side of the element tray down to remove the element. Reverse order to install.

Heats up very slow
Unplugged the range, remove back electrical cover and component cover. Unscrewed old temp sensor and replaced it with new. Oven heats quicker (just by indication) since the probe is only a sensor..

I’ve repaired many stoves, but this is the first unit i’ve found that has a bake selection but no baking element. No wiring on the back nor ports for the element to go into in the inside of the oven. The thermometer i placed inside registers less than half of the desired temperature selected. I’ve replaced the bad thermostat, but the oven will still not reach the desired temperature. The model says there should be a lower bake element, but there was never one installed to begin with. What should i do?

Hello Bob, Thank you for your question. To access the bake element for your model WFE374LVS0, you will have to access the back of the stove to gain access to the hidden back panel where your bake element would be located. We hope this helps.

how do i get access to the hidden baking element on KitchenAid model YKERA205PS4?
For model number YKERA205PS4

Hello Brian, Thank you for your inquiry. There should be two screws at the back of the bottom oven panel above the element that you can take out to remove the panel and access the element. We have included a link to our repair video for a similar element to give you a general idea of how to take the panel out. Good luck with your repair.

I tried to heat up the oven and a spark came from the oven and all of a sudden the lower part of the oven will not heat. The broiler works. Does this mean its the lower element or the sensor? I did have a plastic drip catcher directly on the bottom so maybe that is what sparked it. Please advise what part i might need to fis my oven. Christmas is coming! Thanks.

Hi Cathy, Thank you for the question. If it is just the bottom element that is not working, you will need to replace just the element its self. It can spark when it becomes defective and burns out. Hope this helps!

Oven not heating. If you set oven at 400 it only heats up to about 100 is that the sensor or bake element. Thank you.
For model number GR563LXSB1

Hi John, Thank you for the question. This normally indicates an issue with the Oven Sensor. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Hope this helps!

Is there a hidden element on this model? I only see one at the top. Range isn’t heating properly so thinking I need to replace the element after already replacing the oven sensor probe. Thanks in advance!

When i heat my oven up to cook it will randomly shut off and will not allow me to turn it back on to cook for at least 30 minutes if not longer. Is this my baking heating element or something else?
For model number GFE471LVS0
PartSelect logo
Hi Christopher, thank you for your question. There are a few parts that could cause this issue in your appliance. First I would say test your elements with a multi meter to see if they are working correctly or not. They should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms to be working correctly. The other part you should check would be your oven temperature sensor. That can also be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 1000 - 1100 ohms. If those three parts are fine however, then the issue may be in your control board. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
