There is residual from the old knob that broke off. How to i remove the residual.Washer still works but timer doesn't always engage properly.

Hello Bob, Thank you for your inquiry. You can try taking it off with a flat blade screw driver or putty knife. If the knob clip is still there, you may have to pry it off and replace it. To determine if you have a faulty timer switch, you can test it with a multimeter. Hope this helps!

Don’t have a multi meter but if i take the knob off and then turn the shaft will that tell if knob is broken..... it doesn’t click at this time part wp8566022

Hi Bob, Thank you for the question. A Multimeter is a meter that tests the Ohms and resistance of electrical parts. You can pick one up from a local hardware store or Wal-Mart for around $20. Hope this helps!

My washer has become a little intermittent:
- I can turn the plastic knob independently of the metal circle that goes around
- During cycles the washer quits, the controller clicks like a timer is running but the washer is doing anything. If I pull out a little on the metal part of the knob it goes back to working.
Could this problem just be need a new knob to fix?
