The knob on dryer just keeps turning around and never moves! Won’t shut off! What part do I need?
For model number LDG512

Hi Ellen, Thank you for the question. Sounds like the switch behind the knob is damaged. The shaft the knob slips onto is built into the switch and should not turn freely. Hope this helps!

Heater coil grounded out and push to start button was broke
I got a free Maytag washer and dryer set. All I had to do was put a new coil and start switch and it works. I did double check the wiring with the diagram behind the control panel. Everything went smooth...very easy repair. Thanks partselect for the quick shipping and parts. I can know save my money from the laundromat which is so expensive these days. Easy fix..just make sure the wiring is good before making these repairs.

switch was funky, had to push and pull to work
unplugged unit, removed four cover screws, two screws holding switch bracket, remove two spade lug wires, installed them on new switch, resecured the bracket, closed it up...plugged it in and it ran just like new. EASY

On/off switch wornout
Disconnect power source. Remove 4 small Phillips screws from corners of control panel .Lay panel facedown on dryer ,remove dust.Check old and new parts to make sure they are the same.Lay new part side by side to the other part ( still connected ) .Remove first wire , attach to the same connector on new switch do the same with the second wire . Using a 1/4 " driver or socket remove three mounting screws from the old switch and use them to attach the new switch . Carefully flip over the control panel and align 4 Phillips screws removed earlier .restore power and activate switch !

The Push-to-Start button stopped working
the piece I received was a little different than the one that was on the dryer. The two prongs for the wires were different. However, after consulting a local electrician, I was assured that the different prongs dont matter, and it doesnt matter which wire to plug in on either prong. It is an on off switch that is good either way! I unscrewed 4 screws and two nutbolts holding the part on and plugged the new one in and magic, I fixed my dryer almost by myself!!!!

no power, not turn on
I bought all the recommended parts for this trouble, but it turned out to be caused by burt wire on terminal block causing separation from block as all latches, motor, breakers, elements, switches and thermal sensors tested positive continuity, I finally decided to look in rear panel where incoming power meets terminus to motor, etc. and wires were burnt at ends and post on block was separated from base. I got on phone immediately to customer service to order part shown on their very helpful schematic diagram seen on partselect website. The part was unfortunately discontinued but may be available from other sources. She explained how to search based on part # and the words " terminal block" which directed me to a supplier in MI. Repair completed once appropriate part was received. Thanks again for the direction given even though part was not purchased in the end. Will certainly return to partselect in the future if any issues come up in future. Very helpful site for the DIY'er!!
