Hi Russell, Thank you for your question. If the dispenser is dripping water, you may have air trapped in the water line. Let the water run for a few minutes until all the air has been removed from it. If water is continuously leaking from the dispenser, the water inlet valve may be malfunctioning. A component in the valve my have failed and you will need to test it with a multi-meter to verify if it is working correctly. Unplug your refrigerator, disconnect the water supply and locate your water inlet valve. It is usually on the rear of the fridge, near the bottom. You will need to remove the rear panel to access it. Inspect the valve inlet supply connections for leaks and tighten or replace the connectors. You should also inspect the valve body for any cracks or damage Check the outlet tubing for cracks or abrasions that may also create a leak and replace any cracked or brittle tubing and connectors. If none of the above appear to be the cause of the leak, remove the water inlet valve from the unit. Using a multi-meter on the Rx1 setting, test your valve for continuity by placing the probes on the valve’s terminals. You should receive a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. If you receive any other reading, you need a replacement water inlet valve. Check the drip tray as well. If there is enough spillage, the tray can overflow. If so, you may notice water trickling down from the dispenser area, down the front of the refrigerator. This may be mistaken for water leaking from the dispenser. The drip you are noticing could also be a normal function of the refrigerator or it could be water that has splashed off an ice cube or from the glass you are using to collect the water with and it may stop running after a few minutes. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

Would this part cause the water dispenser to work intermittently?
For model number WRS526SIAH00

Hi Cheryl, thank you for your question. If it was clogged or blocked in some way, yes. Other parts to check would be your water inlet valve. The valve can be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 500 - 1500 ohms of resistance. You may also what to check your filter as well and make sure that does not need to be changed out. Good luck with your repair.

Problem Started 2 years ago, water leaking from bottom left corner of freezer door on to wood floor, only when dispensing water. I found water coming out of protective plastic cover for water dispense line at bottom left corner of freezer. We had repair service look at the problem, he stated door had to be replaced. Could the leak be from water spigot, leaking down the water tubing and collecting in plastic cover. I removed cover and the water line was intact. Thanks for any advice. We have not used water dispenser since we discover problem two years ago.

Hi John, thank you for reaching out. Before replacing the dispenser spigot, we would suggest checking the water line, part number PS16660431. It supplies water to refrigerator components that require water, such as the ice maker and water dispenser. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope that helps!
