Unplug pwr cord ..then chk voltage on refrigerator...go inside refrigerator to upper unit where light is and lower unit dwn bye removing the screw then look for thermostat it's right inside ..remove to 3 wires then install new thermostat the same way....plug unit in to power rotate thermostat cooling setting and listen for compressor to tune on. If all goes well the refrigerator should cycle. ....if not change out control board. Good luck and have fun.

After discovering I could give the thermostat box a rap with my hand and get it to start the fridge I got online at your site and found others were doing the same, before replacing the thermostat. I ordered the part from you and received it the next day! I used a long neck nut driver to remove the one screw holding the thermo box in place and pliers to unplug the three wires on the thermo unit. After removing the control knob it slides right out. I unwound the temp sensor wire and tried to shape it like the old one before installing(making this sensor fit like the old one takes a little juggling). Then hooked the wires on the new unit that you sent and the fridge started working again flawlessly. Big savings!

Took part out of box..Took old part off and installed new part .. Plugged in Refrigerator.. so far is operating great performance..Thank you for shipping in record time..you made this sitution painless ..will definitely recommend to all my friends to shop with PartSelect first ..

Removed 1/4 screw from housing to access thermostat. removed plastic tubing and three wires, reassembled and it works fine.
Repair took 12 minutes

Repair man that looked at it said it was the thermostat and that he would order the part. Waited two weeks with no word, so I ordered the part on line, got it the next day and installed it. The only hard part of the installation was getting to the three screws (located vertically in top of refrigerator section) to remove them. Simple three wire clip on changed unit. Total time took about 5 minutes. Refrigerator started cooling when plugged back in. Unfortunately, cooling again stopped within a day, so the original problem was more extensive than just the thermostat (so much for the service call diagnosis). Thoroughly pleased with part ordering, would do it again.

i don't do it know one will.It was easy and only took about 10 minutes, 3 wires plugged into it and thats it.

First, pulled knob off ot thermostat. Then, lowered control panel housing thermostat by unscrewing one screw. Removed old thermostat after taking off three wires. Replaced with new thermostat, secured wires, and screwed control panel to top of refrigerator. That's all it took. Challenge was finding the nut driver to loosen screw.

My refrigerator is approximately seven years old (date of manufacture: 2001). I had come home twice in the last month to find that it had not been running for several hours (ice melted, milk spoiled, etc.) but it would start running again if I twisted the thermostat knob. So, I ordered a new thermostat. First I removed the 1/4" hex screw that held the plastic thermostat housing in place (it screws up into the top of the refrigerator compartment). Then I removed the plastic thermostat knob and slid the old thermostat out of the housing. I then disconnected the wires one-by-one from the old thermostat and connected them to the new one so I could be certain they were all connected correctly. Finally, I pulled the plastic sheathing off the old sensor wire, slid it onto the new one and popped the wire back into place. Slide the thermostat back into the housing, screw the housing back into the top of the refrigerator compartment, replace the plastic thermostat knob, and the job is done.
