missing screws for oven door
After searching on the internet for a very long time, we were almost ready to order the screws "blind" (no picture) from Sears for almost $10.oo per screw. Then I stumbled onto this website and found exactly what I was looking for, with a detailed description AND a picture!! Not to mention a price that was two thirds less than Sears..for TWO screws. Now the oven door is secure and we are no longer on our search for the right screws.
I removed three screws, pulled the element out from the rear wall, unplugged the electrical connections, reversed these steps in installing the new element. "A Piece Of Cake!"
First I removed the four torx screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Then I installed the new element in reverse order. Recycled the cardboard box and the old element.
I first bought an oven thermometer to check temperatures at different levels. Temperature was about 10 or more degree off. I next looked at the manual and found you can make an adjustment to the temperature knob. This didn't make a difference. Decided I would replace the bottom heating element. I ordered and got the element in a matter of days. The hardest part was loosening up the screws on the bracket for the old element. Thus the use of the vice grip came in handy. My oven is 20 years old!!! I'm sure I saved my husband a couple hundred bucks worth the repair guy.
My thanks to "Part Select" for making the process so easy to order and get a replacement. The repair guy finally called yesterday. Five days after I repaired the oven myself.
The hardest part was taking out original light bulb because screws on shield where hard to unscrew after all this years . The old bulb vent out leaving neck in socket. It took narrow electrical pliers to get neck out .The generic appliance bulb did not fit and had aluminum neck ,not recommended for brass sockets in ovens.Putting new light bulb in was not the problem.
Parts no longer available so we went to several appliance stores and measured racks. We found a jenair model had racks that measured correctly got the model number and ordered the racks. There working great and now the oven looks like new. Our kitchen is a restored 1956 GE metal kitchen in Cadilac pink. Thanks guys for the fast service and very resonsble price. Was also very happy to find the racks were made in USA.
door of oven came apart when plastic screw holders broke
put back together with parts ordered. Parts arrived in 2 days!!!! and saved my large dinner party the following day from being ruined. Thank you so much for your parts inventory and for Jenn Air supplying only the part needed and not the entire door. It was a life saver!
