The control knobs broke over time. So I couldn't control the burners and I tried some uiversal knobs from Lowe's that was a disaster. I ordered the right knobs and they work great.
I simply put the control knobs on the shaft and they worked great. I love them. Thank you.
First , I turned the power off, pulled the unit out, which is a drop in unit. I removed the screws around the glass, removed the broken glass. I then slid the new glass and screws back in place . Put unit back , turned power on and the job done in about 30 minutes.
Easy removal (lift and pull) of the the two element unit from the Jenn-air stove top. Placed unit right side up on a work surface. used a nut driver to remove 12 screws from the unit. removed the glass cook-top, revealing the two elements. Un-hooked two wires off the old damaged element, placed wires (plug and play) onto the new unit, then replaced the glass cook-top, used the nut driver to replace the 12 screws. Pluged the unit back into the Jenn-air stove top.
I priced a new two-burner unit and it was going to cost $300. I took the broken unit apart, saw that it was an element that had suffered catastophic failure and found partselect on the internet. $60 and three days later I had the part in hand. The repair was "a piece of cake." Thanks for saving me a lot of money.
The repair was easy but the replacement coil had 4 connections while the old one had only two. After calling the distributor with no explanation of how to solve the problem I was given a telephone number of Jenn Air. They explained that my unit was too old and they no longer provided the part I needed. I then decided to do the following. Of the 4 connections on the replacement coil, two are larger and two are smaller. I then decided to connect the wires to the two larger connections leaving the small ones free. I replaced the cooktop and WOW it worked. Not sure what the smaller connectors are used for but with old cooktops it seems they are not needed. I can submit a photo but have no means to do it here
This is a two module cook top That I have, 2 burners in each module. I took it apart take the damaged one out and replaced with the new one, put it back together and turn it on. Heeeyyyy it works. Thanks.(and I'm not an electrician)
THe original knob found its way into my garbage disposal and was broken. I needed to freplace it.
I decided NOT to crawl under my stove top to find the correct model no. of the unit, as recommended in the Help section of the website. Instead I just guessed. It arrived, and of course didn;t fit. So I crawled under the stove top, got the correct model no., and instantly found the correct part to order. Part Select instantly honored my request for a refund on the first part and the correct part is on its way. So I ended up paying two delivery charges instead of one. LESSON LEARNED.
There was sparking coming form the module and I when I took it apart I discovered that the burner itself was not the problem. The metal parts that held the burner in place had come loose and was shorting out against the 220 line.
I used a nut driver to take the module apart. When I discovered the problem I simply threw the module out but kept the ceramic top and then ordered a new stove top. The burners would be a snap to install if the clips that secure it in place had not ALL broken off. All you do is pull the wires off with a pair pliers and set the new unit in place and reattach the wires. All that would be left would be to reattach the ceramic top and set the module back into place on the stove top. The modules were discontinued and no longer available any place. Believe me I tried. The delivery to me from Parts Perfect was very quick and without any hassles. I had no problem returning the burner. I would recommend these people any time.
The rear burning on cook top cartridge would not work.
I unscrewed the glass surface from the bottom portion where the element lays. I gently unplugs the element and plugged in the new element. Then screwed it back together.
