The lower door closing cam is used in refrigerator doors, it can be located on the fresh food side or the freezer side. It helps hold the door open. This cam is made out of plastic, so it might crack or wear down over time. If your door will not open and close properly you may need to replace the door closing cam. To successfully install this part, you will need a 5/16 nut driver and a small flat blade screwdriver. Before you begin, unplug your appliance and disconnect the water supply. Lubricating this part may help with installation. This replacement part is sold individually. This part will fit both the left and right side of your refrigerator door. To make the repair, remove the top hinge cover, then the top hinge support. Lift the door from the bottom support and remove the old door cams. Replace the cams, using a little lubricant if necessary, and place the door back on the lower hinge support. Replace the top hinge support and your repair is complete!

Worn out door plastic cam

Replaced the door cam on bottom of fridge door. ONE THING TO UNDERSTAND- THERE ARE 2 CAMS ON THE DOOR, LOWER AND UPPER, BUT THE UPPER CAM IS NOT LISTED ON THE "DOOR HARDWARE" DRAWING, ITS LISTED ON THE MAIN BODY DRAWING! BE SURE TO GET BOTH CAMS! (PARTSELECT COULD MAKE A NOTE THAT WHEN PEOPLE LOOK UP LOWER CAM, PUT A NOTE IN THERE SAYING Y0U NEED UPPER TOO!)So I had to order the upper cam later and install later. BUT it is quite easy to replace, unlike the video, I only needed 1 tool! The nut driver (electric screwdriver w nut driver head). Thanks -RF

The Door Cam is a black plastic part which helps the door pivot shut while keeping the door and hinge in proper alignment. Lubricating this part upon installation may help it move easier. It attaches onto the door hinge and should be replaced if broken or if there is noticeable damage. Refer to your model number and user manual to ensure this is the correct part for you. To do this repair you will need a 5/6 nut driver, a 5/16 socket, and a ratchet. For safety purposes, do not forget to turn off your appliance before making this repair. Note that this piece is black, and as per the manufacturer requires a new screw to mount the door cam which is sold individually. Please also note that this is the closing cam for the lower door, and the upper door cam is sold as a separate kit.

Refrig Door Cams wore out and made noises when opening and closing.

Followed Door Removal instructions by removing the Top Screws from the Cabinet. Lifted Door OFF the Metal Hinge. Unscrewed both Lower and Upper Cams from the Hinge and Door. Replaced with new after coating with Vasoline. Lifted Door back in place with help from Wife. Only problem was guiding the Door back onto the Hinge. Works fine. Two year old Frig. This is a design problem, as the cams should last longer than 22 months.

Refrigerator door not closing properly

We’d had the refrigerator repaired a year ago by the service department of our local appliance store. Turns out the service tech somehow used the wrong screw when replacing the door cam, causing it to rub on the cams and causing premature wear. After watching the provided repair video, it took about 10 minutes to remove the door, replace the cams and reinstall the door. Saved well over $100 and had the job done right this time.

In this kit you will find the support, the ice door, spring, and delay. The heater ribbon is no longer needed and therefore will not be included with this part. This kit works in the dispenser chute to let ice through when it is being dispensed. If you have the following symptoms such as: door sweating, difficulty opening or closing door, frost buildup, warm freezer section, or problems with ice dispensing, then this is a solution. The tools needed for this repair are a putty knife, needle nose pliers, and 1/4 inch nut driver. Wear work gloves to protect your hands when performing this repair.

Warm Air Getting Into Freezer

Patience is a virtue. The kit really works. 1st, lift the front plate of the ice dispencer by placing a flat head screw driver into the two slots at the bottom of the panel. When the panel is lifted up slightly at the bottom, push up on the panel to remove it. Careful not to break panel and the wires attached. Next, remove the wiring panel by removing the two screws on left and right sides. Then, unplug the old black ice cover from the wiring panel (this is the heating plug that you will nolonger need). Next, remove the parts and replace them with the parts in the kit, noting where each part comes from, etc. All parts in the kit are necessary and should be used. Some of the replacements need trial and error. Patience will be important. Also needed is a person that loves to solve problems, especially because the kit does not come with instructions. But the kit definitely works!

where ic e dispencer spring is held to door broke at mold

after ordering ice dispencer repair kit, and removing the outer parts found out that the problem was the ice dispencer door shell . this part is no longer available. It seems to me that if whirlpool wants to have return customers they have to stand behind the product. Well I made a L bracket and drilled a hole to to recieve the spring keeper and glued this to the housing and used a 3 1/12"finishing nail as the pin all works fine

This manufacturer-certified Pan Slide Track allows the drawer to slide in and out. It measures roughly 12 inches in length If this track is damaged or missing, you won't be able to move the drawer properly. The slide attaches to the side wall of the fridge and can be placed on either side. Refer to your model number and user manual to ensure this part is right for you. To make this repair, first, remove the snack pan and glass shelf. Slide out the track from its locking pins on the side of the glass shelf, and slide the new track into place by lining it up with the locking slots. Replace the shelf and crisper drawer. This repair is rated as very easy by our customers, taking less than 15 minutes to complete and requiring no tools.

Track broke that guided one of the drawers

I used the diagrams I found on line to order the part and then simply removed one track and installed the new one. Cleaned up all components and reinstalled the drawer. These tracks simply slide up and over to lock themselves into the bracket that attaches to the adjustable shelves bracket.

Replaced Two Broken Tracks

The old tracks had been falling out consistently, causing the deli tray to fall on top of the food below it (which included the eggs, though none were broken since they were in a hard plastic container).

I had some difficulty getting the new track installed, however. All the parts lined up, but I just couldn't get the tracks to slide into place. After some brute force and about 10 minutes, they were finally installed.

Best thing about it is that it doesn't appear that these tracks are coming out easily! Mission accomplished!

Replaced door gasket and hinge closers on Refrigerator door.

I just followed the excellent Video for both parts. The door gasket is tedious but doable, just take a deep breath and press on. Putty knife is handy to push edge of gasket under the plastic lip. The closer devices take 3 minutes - simple R&R. Check the videos - they're pretty clear and detailed.

This part is the top hinge for your refrigerator door. It is made of metal and is approximately 5 inches by 3 ¼ inches in size. This hinge is for the right side of the refrigerator door only. The left side hinge is sold separately. The top hinge allows your refrigerator door to open and close properly. If your door is hanging strangely, or if the door won’t open or close properly, you may need to replace the top hinge. This part is sold individually and is an authentic OEM part.

The original gasket was breaking down and started to separate. The seal was starting to be compromised..

I ordered two new ones from partselect.com. I figured if I was replacing the one for the refrigerator door I might as well do the freezer door too.
Very easy to take the old ones off, take the putty knife clean tracks out. Putting the new ones on, was a little harder to do. You have to start in the corner and push the gasket into the slot. You need strong hands to do this. Once I heard them click in, they guided themselves the rest of the way. Once they are on, check to make sure they touch the frame of the door. My freezer was perfect, but the refrigerator had an area of 25 inches that did not touch the frame. I called partselect.com and they sent out another new gasket for the refrigerator door. (I had to pay for this one but was told once I mailed in the defective one, they would credit me the cost of the returned one) I took off the bad gasket and installed the 2nd new gasket and that one was perfect.
