My microwave started making an intermittent odd noise and smoked a bit the morning after thanksgiving. It still heats food, but when it’s heating it sounds normal then odd, then normal, etc. I’ve watched Steve's video and I suspect it may be the magnetron, but I would appreciate more information on how to properly diagnose the problem before I order any parts. Thank you!

Hello Kevin, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Magnetron. The magnetron can be tested with an multi meter set on the highest scale. Across the terminals, you should read 0 ohms (or .5 ohms). Test both terminals to ground with one lead and make sure it is not shorted. We hope this helps!
