This unit took a catastrophic power surge and upon inspection, the control board was severely damaged. One of the capacitors was blown off the circuit board and there is visible burn damage. There is no visible damage to the other boards so I am considering purchasing the control board. Trying to save money as the removal and replacement is straight forward. Just wondering if this is a good bet in light of no visible damage to the other boards.
For model number KICU509XBL00
Hello Kenneth, Thank you for the question. In most cases the other boards should be fine and the damaged board replacement should fix the issue. Hope this helps!

no power to stovetop
For model number KICU509XBL00
Hello Betty, thank you for contacting us. We would recommend checking the fuse, part number PS11752972. It protects the controls from damage by shutting off the cooktop if there's a power surge. When faulty or blown, the cooktop can lose power. If this does not help, we would recommend checking the cooktop module, part number PS11737978. Please reach out to customer service if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of help!

We broke the edge of the Glass Cooktop
My cooktop just sits in the countertop cutout without the Kitchen Aid Side Brackets, no foam tape or any silicone caulk, so it was easy to lift it out and set on two small pieces of wood that spanned the cutout in the counter. The assembly is very lightweight. The bottom metal pan of the cooktop is approx. 2" deep, and is offset from the

glass cooktop approx. 1.5" on all 4 sides. So the cooktop assembly simply sets on the wood pieces on the bottom pan. The glass cooktop has a metal skirt on all 4 sides that simply lifts off the pan after removing 6 torx screws. The back of the glass cooktop skirt does not have screws, just 2 tabs and slots for the tabs, so lift up the front and slide the glass cooktop off of the tabs. Now install the new cooktop glass and done! Easy. I did shut off breaker but did not unwire the cooktop.
