Knob would not engage, had to manually turn outer ring to start washer.
Used a screw driver and needle nose pliers to remove clip from behind the timer knob. Took 2 minutes to remove clip, i admit it was a little tricky but once you get a grip on the clip very easily removed. Replaced with new knob, old knob gear was completley stripped . put the new clip on and presto, Like brand new.A normal service call would of ran me 45.00 just to tell me what was wrong with the machine. General Electric Dryer Light Switch
★★★★★
★★★★★
59 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS8758429
Manufacturer Part Number WR23X10725
The interior light of your refrigerator is controlled by a switch that is activated when the door is opened and closed. If your refrigerator light will not turn on, there could be an issue with the switch. The switch is spring loaded and is a generally closed type of switch meaning there should be no continuity when the button is depressed, and continuity through the switch when the button is not depressed. This plastic, white, OEM switch is sourced directly from the manufacturer, is sold individually and is easy to replace. The repair usually takes less than 15 minutes and requires a flat blade screwdriver and needle nose pliers.

Sticking Light Switch
I applied some tips learned by reading other reviews. So before I started I grabbed my trusty vise grip pliers and a small screw driver. I locked onto the switch actuator, the part that the refrigerator door pushes in, with the vise grips and pulled on it just hard enough to get the screw driver inserted in the right side to push in the catch clip so the switch could be pulled out further each time the catch clip was depressed to the next detent. Then I used the screw driver on the left site to encourage the switch past the detents on the left and very quickly the switch was out of the mount. The wires from the refrigerator pulled out with the old switch. I unplugged the old switch from the wires and plugged in the new switch and shoved the new switch back into the mount, wiggled it a couple of times to make sure it was secure and the job was done. Once I applied the vise gripes at first, the whole job took less than a minute. Read more...

PartSelect Number PS1481922
Manufacturer Part Number WD21X10261
The interlock switch may also be referred to as a belt switch. This part is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the appliance from operating when the door is open. This is a part for your dryer. The interlock switch senses the door is shut and the dryer can begin. This part might need to be replaced if your dryer is not starting or is in process while the door is open. The black rectangular part of the switch is approximately 2 inches long and a 1/2-inch wide with two gold plates on either end. This is a genuine OEM part that is sourced right from the manufacturer.

interlock switch was bad. Prevents the dishwasher form running as it "thinks" the door is still open.
Opened door, removed screw holding down metal plate that presses against interlock switch when door is closed. Removed plastic cover thingy that is over interlock switches. Removed the interlock switch by pressing the plastic lock thingy away from switch. Pulled the wires off each end of the interlock switch. Removed new interlock switch from plastic bag and reversed above procedure. Done, shut door and the dishwasher works. Read more...

Broken Knob Post
First I unplugged the dryer, then I removed the access panel on the back of the control panel. I removed the wires from the back of the switch...Here is where I messed up. I removed the switch prior to ordering the part, the bad part is the way I removed the part. When you get the new part in you will be able to see how it will be mounted to the control panel. I had no idea, so I did what was necessary to remove it. Needless to say, I bent the hell out of the hole that the switch mounts in. In turn, the installation of the new switch did not go as easily as I would have liked. After straightening out some metal and drowning the thing in epoxy, the new switch is installed. I hooked the wires back up on the back of the switch, plug in the dryer, and dry some clothes. Standing victorious over the dryer with beer in hand, not only did I accomplish the mission but I learned my lesson... destructive removal = BAD! Read more...

Dryer would not start
The end repair was very simple and took minimal effort. The time and difficulty was all in the testing. I disassembled the dryer and removed the drum and then hard wired each thermo-fuse to determine where the fault was. After test all of those I was stumped. When I opened the door the light would not come on so I assumed it was a power fault closer to the source. However after all of my testing I couldn't find anything wrong. I then removed the light bulb and realized it was burned out which led me to the door switch being the fault. I removed the switch and soldered the three wire together and the dryer started right up! All I had to do was order a new $15 part, unsolder the wires and plug them in. Would have been so much simpler if that light bulb hadn't of been burned out causing me to over think my diagnosis. This was my first major appliance repair and I did it with only the help of the parts diagram provided on the website. Read more...

This is the replacement rotary start switch for your dryer. It is silver and black in color, with a white D-shaped shaft. The rotary start switch is found inside the dryer control panel, and when actuated, it starts the dryer. Start Knob Had Broken A Couple Of Years Ago & Used Pliers To Start Dryer & This Wore Down The Start Switch
I removed 4 or 5 screws on the back of the compartment that holds the start switch. I removed 1 screw that held the start switch in & pulled off two wires that connected to the old start switch & connected them to the new start switch. I then put all of the screws back in and everything worked fine. Very easy repair. Read more...
