This is an OEM replacement ice and water filter for your refrigerator. In side-by-side refrigerators, it is found in the top right corner or the bottom left grille. In bottom-freezer refrigerators, the filter is in the bottom left grille. In top-freezer units, the filter is located in the middle of the refrigerator. This NSF certified filter reduces 28 contaminants including pharmaceuticals, metals, minerals, pesticides, cysts, industrial chemicals, Class I Particulates and chlorine. It is made up of coconut carbon block and has three layers of filtration. The first layer is particle filtration that helps block larger contaminants. The second layer is micro-filtration, which prevents medium-sized impurities from passing. The third layer is called absorption filtration, which absorbs microscopic-sized pollutants. It measures 2 inches deep, 2 inches wide, 1-1/2 inches high, and weighs 0.5 lbs. To ensure your filter is working its best, it needs to be replaced every six months. This single filter has a simple, quick-turn installation feature that does not require any tools.

This is a single OEM water filter used in refrigerators to remove impurities and particles from water that goes through the water and ice dispenser. It is used for reducing cysts, turbidity, lead, mercury, herbicides, and more. If your icemaker is not making ice, not dispensing ice, dispenses too little ice, or there is leakage and the fridge is making loud noises, replacing the water filter may be the solution. This filter is located in the front, top right of side-by-side refrigerators. You will know it is time for a new filter when the light on the freezer door dispenser lights up red, or after 6 months (200 gallons) of use. No tools are required for this easy repair. First, press the release button to pull out the old water filter and push and lock in the new water filter. Run water through the dispenser for about 3 minutes to prime the filter for use. The function of the Refrigerator Water Filter is to filter the water supply to reduce and remove contaminants in your water supply for a certain period of time. The filter is meant to be easily accessible. You should be able to access it through the front, bottom panel of your fridge. This filter should regularly be replaced. It is recommended that the water filter be replaced every six months or every 200 gallons of water to ensure proper removal of impurities and to ensure best flow rates. If your filter isn't functioning properly, you will either get a buildup of impurities or impure water. A buildup of impurities will hinder the water flow to your refrigerator water dispenser and ice maker. If the water is still flowing but it has been more than 6 months since you changed the filter, impurities may be entering your water supply. This OEM ice and water filter fits side-by-side and bottom-freezer GE models. The most common reason you would need to change this part is if you have never updated your model and it is no longer filtering your water. This also may lead to your refrigerator not dispensing water or ice properly. Manufacturers recommend you change your filter every six months to ensure it properly filters impurities. Depending on the model, a red light might also indicate that the filter is due for a replacement. Note: As per the manufacturer, this is an updated water filter. If you have never installed the updated part or your old model was made by Culligan, you may need the adapter to install the filter. See related parts. This filter is sold individually This filter is located inside the refrigerators upper right corner. It is common for water to drip from the dispenser when being changed so place a cloth underneath before you begin this repair. To remove the filter, turn it to the left until it releases without pulling down. Fill the new filter with tap water to prepare it. Position the new filter into the holder taking note of the arrows. The arrow on the front should be facing out. Gently push up on the filter and turn it to the right to secure it. Do not over-tighten. To release air in the system run 1-1/2 gallons of water through it. If your model has a reset button, press and hold this for a few seconds to reset it.

Ice Maker stopped dispensing ice through Ice Maker Dispensor.
After taking Ice Maker's ice collection container out, I noticed that the plastic cup drive was broken. I did a websearch for repair and replacement parts for our GE refrigerator. I found PartSelect website easy to navigate and find the replacement part necessary...and placed an order.

Once I received the shipment, I placed the Cup Drive into position and used the flat edge of a knife to allow the Cup Drive to slide into the tight-fitting position necessary. After positioning into place, I placed the ice collection bin back into the freezer...turned the ice-maker back on...and waited for ice to be made. A day later, the ice maker had produced enough ice to test the ice maker's dispensing mechinism. The cup drive worked perfectly...and ice began to be dispensed. The dispensor has been working ever since.

I also replace the ice and water filter...another very easy task...of unscrewing the old and replacing with the new filter. After replacing the filter, I let the water dispensor run for 2 minutes to flush all air out the system. The water dispensor work perfectly. Read more...

This OEM cup filter is designed to be compatible with all rear-filter refrigerators made before April 2001. The filter fits into a round white plastic housing. For this repair you may also require the PS428513 wrench or PS428532 O-ring. To install you will need to unscrew the cup before you can see the old filter, and then dump the water. Pull the old filter straight down and place the new filter inside the filter cup. The end of the filter with the O-ring should be directed upward. As you tighten the filter it will align itself. If your refrigerator has a Change Filter light, it will need to be reset. Press and hold this button until the green light flashes (up to 15 seconds). This filter has a 2-Inch depth, 4.25-Inch height, 2-Inch width and needs to be replaced every 6 months of use or 200 gallons depending on which comes first. Aged parts broken
After sitting in a cold refrigerator for year after year, plastic becomes brittle and breaks. This is what started happening to my shelves and door bins. The problem a lot of times is getting the right part since some of the parts do not have numbers.

Front wheel was broken when moving refrigerator
Lifted the front up onto a scrap 2x4 to get it off the ground and it had 1 bolt that you removed to get the old item off and replace with new assymbly and 1 bolt to re attach. This sat broke for over a year becuase I thought it would be alot harder to fix, found the part on parts select ordered it recieved it in approx 2 days and had it fixed in less than 15 minutes. I would recommend parts select to anyone who told me that they had a appliance broken.
