This part is the replacement door trim for your oven. It is white in color and is approximately 30 inches long and 2 inches wide. The bottom door trim supports the outer glass from the bottom. The main reason to replace the bottom door trim is if it is cracked or damaged, or if it is corroded and you cannot close your oven door properly. This part is sold individually and is an authentic OEM part.

Range door bottom trim got rusty: a lousy design by GE.
I used a screwdriver and pliers. A nut driver would have been helpful. Oven door is removeable for cleaning and maintenance, but it's heavy and awkward. It has to be laid face-side down to disassemble, so have a protected tabletop ready to avoid scratches. Side trim pieces have to come off to get access to bottom trim mounting screws.
NOTE: The trim has been re-designed and no longer requires the screws. The dimples on the bottom hold them in place instead.

Remove vent trim from oven and set oven glass to the side. Next remove handle from vent trim (two screws). Next place handle on new vent trim. Place glass in place, (it is held in place by bottom of oven door and vent trim). next place side trim in place and place that side of the vent trim and loosely tighten screw holding trim into place at top of the glass. Next place the other trim into place under the vent trim and tighten the screws on both sides.

Replace shattered outer door glass
This is not the best design. You'll need to have an extra set of hands to hold the trim pieces in place. Remember the glass is positioned outside [on top of]the trim pieces. Be careful as the trim pieces are rather brittle and can be hard to locate in their proper position. Position glass in the holding tabs at the bottom, hold glass against the trim pieces and gently position door handle over glass and trim. The handle holds everything together. No instructions are shipped w/ parts.

I had several broken appilances broken with parts to be replaced.
I had ordered the parts from Part Select and came with in a week. I ahd a Whrilpool microwave that had a door panel and vent grille that needed to be replaced and that was rplced with ease took less that five minutes to do. My Maytag refridgerator had it kickplate grille replace along with the pivot block that took all of about two minutes. The longest job that took about 5 minutes was my Whirlpool glass oven door that needed to be replaced, but that was pretty ease to replace also with an extra hand from my son. I just didn't want to break another glass door or I would have done it myself plus I was teaching him how to do self reparts.
