This part secures to the door of the washer and secures the door when it is shut, to ensure the inside drum of the washer does not leak. If your washer does not start properly and/or shut all the way, this latch is likely causing the issues you are experiencing and needs to be replaced. This latch is made of a brushed metal material and features two holes to secure it with screws. To replace this latch, simply unthread the screws of the old latch to remove it, and secure the new latch with the existing screws. This latch is not sold with any other parts or accessories, so any securing screws are sold separately.

I googled the problem, read the recommendation found the part and read that it was an easy fix. Took the broken part off the door and noticed the broke off piece was in the latch on the machine. Ordered the two parts, paid the $30 2-day delivery. Parts arrived and the machine was up and runnning in under 5 minutes

Broken Door Catch
This was one of the simpliest repairs I have ever done taking less than 5 minutes to complete. On the inner door I removed the two screws that hold the plastic catch in place. I then removed the broken catch and put the new catch in place. Finally I replaced the two screws that hold the catch in place and it was done.

Door on washer wouldn't lock or start
1. Unplug unit.
2. Unscrew 2 nuts holding top in place in rear of unit using phillips head screwdriver.
3.Slide top back and remove.
4. Open door of washer and unscrew 2 screws holding in door lock unit.
5.Pull out unit from the top and install new unit reconnecting the 3 wire connections.

Electrolux Upright Washer Door Wouldn't Open
Parts took twice as long to arrive shipped from Utah to Houston, Texas. Once arrived parts were straight forward to install.
1) Open the door by tripping the door strike using yard trimmer line.
2) Turned Power off (unplugged unit)
3) Used needle noses pliers to remove door rubber boot retainer
4) Folded right-side ... Read more of rubber in to removed switch assembly
5) Used Phillips screwdriver to remove switch assembly screws, navigated damaged switch part forward then disconnected line.
6) Connected new switch to line, navigate part back into washer and screwed back in.
7) Repositioned door rubber boot and reattached door boot retainer wire with hands and needle noose pliers.
8) Replaced door strike using Phillips screw driver.
9) Re-plugged washer power to outlet, closed door and ran a test cycle. All good!
