General Electric Range Flat Style Oven Igniter Kit

112 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS231280
Manufacturer Part Number WB13K21
The flat style oven igniter kit comes with a mounting bracket and a wire connector with a plug. The igniter kit is used to light the oven burner. If you notice that your oven will not heat up properly, the igniter kit may need to be replaced. This flat style gas oven igniter has a body length of 3-3/4 inches. When completing this repair, the connector plug might need to be removed and spliced to the range wiring using porcelain wire nuts. Before you begin this repair, be sure to disconnect the power source from the oven, and shut off the gas supply.

The igniter glowed, but never got hot enough to ignite the propane, so I did smell propane.
First, I removed the two screws that held the heat shield in place. Second, I removed the one screw that held a small wire covering. That covering kept the wires inside the back wall of the range. Third, I removed the two screws that held the Igniter Kit, and unplugged it from the back of the range. I then carefully put the new igniter in, and reassembled everything in reverse order. It only took about 30 minutes to do the repair, and 30 minutes of cleaning and wiping of the broiler area. (It is amazing what you see when you take things apart). I should have been wiping things up over the past few months. Overall, a very easy repair. I ordered the part at 12:30 in the afternoon, and FedEx delivered it the next morning at 11:30, all for the regular shipping price of $6.95. VERY HAPPY..... Read more...

General Electric Range Round Style Oven Igniter
★★★★★
★★★★★
59 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS243425
Manufacturer Part Number WB2X9154
The round style oven igniter is also known as an oven bake or broil igniter and is compatible with your range appliance. The function of the round style oven igniter is to pull electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. If your igniter is glowing for more than ninety seconds but it has not ignited the gas flame, that means that the igniter is not powerful enough to open the valve. Be very careful when handling this igniter as it is very fragile. This igniter has a range of 2.5 to 3.0 amps. Note that this round igniter will not replace flat style igniters.

Gas oven was not lighting (bake only)
Repair was very easy. 2 screws to remove the bottom cover inside the oven. 2 more screws to remove the igniter. Cut the wires to remove it from the back of the oven. 3 screws to remove the back cover. Un-clipped old igniter , pushed new one through the hole (from inside the oven). Connected and re-applied screws. Worked like a charm. Read more...

Oven wouldn't heat
After removing the door and the lower pan cover, I removed 4 screws holding down the flame spreader. Once the flame spreader was off, I was looking at the two screws that hold on the igniter assembly. For some reason, these seemed to be the worst part of the repair. One screw broke off at the head as soon as I tried to loosen it. The other was apparently stripped during the initial installation. Due to lack of space to fit the dremel tool in the area, it took quite some time to remove the second screw. Once I finally got those removed, it was a piece of cake. The assembly easily pulled out approximately 4 inches to disconnect the plug. The new plug was easy to insert and push back in the cavity behind the oven. I had extra sheet metal screws, so the installation of the new assembly took less than 10 minutes. As I said, the worst part was the stripped screw and lack of space to get the proper tool to remove it. Read more...

This part is the replacement oven burner igniter, broil igniter, or glow bar igniter for your cooktop or range. It is designed to ignite the fuel from the fuel lines and light the broil burner. If your broil burner will not ignite, it is a good indication that the burner igniter is burned out or damaged. Be sure to shut off the power and gas to the range before you begin to repair this part. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part from the manufacturer.

Burner igniter needed to be replaced
Assumed the entire top of the range would have to be lifted off. Removed the three screws inside the top of the over door and then noticed the two screws holding the dish around the burner. They were tight and required WD-40 and then a sharp tap and came off.
Important: Notice the direction your old igniter is plugged into the wire. It is not clear and can go on either way.

On Thankgiving Day with company coming and the turkey in the oven, my kenmore stove decided to act up. The oven burner started to smell awful and start carboning up due to improper burning at the burner tube. We then abandoned our attempts to roast the turkey in the oven for that day.
After removing the bake tube and ignitor assembly the following day for a close inspection which involved removal of the bottom pan, racks etc. and disconnecting the ignitor / tube assembly by unscrewing the sheet-metal screws holding them in place, I discovered that the ignitor had burned a hole in the bake tube which could not be seen without unscrewing the ignitor from the tube first. This caused the air / propane ratio to dramaticly change causing the oven to have a strong odor, start to carbon up the bake tube and effect the temperatures and cook time and the possibility of monoxide fumes effecting the chef. The parts that partselect.com supplied, which were in stock ,worked perfectly and saved my Christmas goose. Happy Holidays! Read more...
