Once the screws are removed - my inclination was to lift the control panel out - something was holding it down. Come to find out the removal step is to pull the control panel away - towards you.
Then carefully lift out the panel. Each control must be removed and re-attached but that is just a transfer step. Be careful of the little red indicator lens - it pops out and the light is in a white housing that slides on.
The unit thens slide back in and reinstall the Torx screws to complete. Read more...

Overlay was scratched and the scratches could not be removed.
On this GE Range model - JS760SP5SS - the control panel is held together with two TORX screws. These are not standard screws so you will need a TORX screwdriver. Other models have different fasteners.Once the screws are removed - my inclination was to lift the control panel out - something was holding it down. Come to find out the removal step is to pull the control panel away - towards you.

Aluminum Foil Bonded With Bottom
It was much easier than trying to remove the bonded aluminum foil from the false bottom/drip pan. Simply lift and remove oven front door, (see your manual), slide out false bottom and slide in new. For me it did take longer than 15 minutes, but that's because I was doing a thorough oven cleaning. The part was in the $50 range and well worth it. Why didn't anyone ever tell me that you can no longer line the bottom of your oven with aluminum foil?
