Overlay was scratched and the scratches could not be removed.
On this GE Range model - JS760SP5SS - the control panel is held together with two TORX screws. These are not standard screws so you will need a TORX screwdriver. Other models have different fasteners.
Once the screws are removed - my inclination was to lift the control panel out - something was holding it down. Come to find out ... Read more the removal step is to pull the control panel away - towards you.
Then carefully lift out the panel. Each control must be removed and re-attached but that is just a transfer step. Be careful of the little red indicator lens - it pops out and the light is in a white housing that slides on.
The unit thens slide back in and reinstall the Torx screws to complete.
