Frigidaire Refrigerator Door Light Switch
PartSelect Number PS2332280
Manufacturer Part Number 297243800
This is a switch for your refrigerator, but you may also know it as a door switch or a plunger light switch. This part turns your appliance light on and off as the door is opened and closed. If your current light does not turn on, it will need to be replaced. To make this repair you will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a putty knife, and a flat head screwdriver.
Installation Instructions
Arlee from HOUSTON, TX
Pushbutton light switch failed.
Needed a Phillips head screwdriver to remove bottom plate (kick panel). UNPLUGGED FREEZER. Removed plate pulled switch out through the mounting hole and unhooked the two electric wires. Placed wires on new switch, pushed wires back through the hole and seated the switch. Plugged in the freezer and opened the door - magic, the light came on. Replaced the front kick panel (hardest part was to line up the plate holes with the holes in the mounting bracket).

Refrigerator light was out
Test the light socket first with a bulb that you know is good. If the light still does not come on, unplug the refrigerator, remove the switch by inserting a very small, thin, flathead screwdriver alongside it and pull the switch out slowly with your other hand. There are two wires there. Remove them gently with some needle nose pliers. If you want to test to see if the switch is defective, take a insulated jumper wire, and attach it between the two wires. Plug the refrigerator back in and see if the light comes on. If the light does come on, replace with a new switch by re-attaching the wires and placing it back in the hole firmly.

Erratic light.
Simple switch repair: Unplug fridge, pull down to remove switch assembly, slip contacts off. Reverse with replacement switch. HOWEVER, check first to see if the bulb filament might be broken, as this could cause the same symptom. OR in my case, the light socket connection was the culprit. Check that too before ordering a replacement switch.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Compressor Start Relay
Ordered a new one and installed it when it arrived. Read more...
PartSelect Number PS426380
Manufacturer Part Number 216594300
The compressor start relay attaches to the compressor in your refrigerator. If your refrigerator will not start, one of the most common parts to fail is the compressor start relay. Sometimes called the controller, this device is used to boost the compressor until the unit is running. Other common symptoms connected to start relays include: refrigerator will not start, will not cool, is making a clicking, humming or buzzing sound, or the compressor itself is warm to the touch. You may also smell a burnt plastic odor if the relay has failed. Shake the relay and listen for any rattling, as this is a sign that it is faulty.
